My sociology professor wants the class to write a paper on why we want to go to college. Some possible reaons might include a future job goal, parental influence, a desire to make something of ourselves, etc.
Specifically, I go for these reasons:
(in no particular order)
1. as a requirement for a future job
2. parental influence (expected of me)
3. peer influence
4. prestige (not a very good reason, I admit, but it exists all the same)
5. internal desire to learn (most significant)
6. to get skills necessary for a future job (different than 1, involves real learning rather than a paper degree)
7. to expand my horizons and enrich myself for a broader view
8. just to see what it's like
How the heck can I make a 600 word paper on such a simple question?
