I think at this point, it's vital that you get to the bottom of this. Them saying it's stress just sounds to me like they don't really know what's going on. If the episodes are getting worse, the next one could kill her.

I am definitely going to agree with this. No one can be denied medcal help becasue of insurance. At least not in the state I live in. Some of the symptoms make me think Grand Mal Seizures. It could be a form of epilepsy.
My prayers been with you a long time my friend and will continue.

Those symptoms present very much as neurological. What stands out particularly is the paralysis & numbness being isolated to one side of the body.

There are plenty of underlying causes for some of those symptoms. I too would throw out the stress as a cause to be bs. Some doctors have a tendency to label anything they cannot diagnose in what they feel is a sufficient amount of time as stress-related. A good clinician, and one who has the time/dedication, will look beyond to other factors.

You mentioned a 'full mri' was done ? Not sure what type of mri that is particularly. I don't believe any hospital does a full body mri, those are usually done by private mri clinics as 'screening' and while not useless, are not worth doing imho.

MRI is a particular technology that involves the use of different coils for different body parts (the plastic sheaf they put across the area being scanned) As well as different protocols, field of views, T1 or T2 weighting, contrast enhanced or not, late contrast enhanced etc. etc. A proper MR is setup to scan one area of interest in particular at a time.

Or perhaps you meant she received a brain MRI ? In which case that is an excellent protocol to eliminate the possibility of a tumor or cerebrovascular issues such as aneurysm, stroke etc.

A full MRI of the the cervical, lumbar and thoracic spine could be useful, as well as an ultrasound of the carotid artery, as blockage there can lead to TIAs which are 'mini-strokes'

In very rare cases there are bacterial or viral infections that can have neurological manifestations. Blood tests can rule these out.

I also agree medical care should never be refused. I live in Canada and we have universal health care, and our health care system is fantastic and state of the art with excellent surgeons and practitioners. Where our system falls short is in the cases where a patient has an obscure or hard to pin down condition, in which case because there are such huge demands on the time of our healthcare practitioners - it is difficult for some unfortunate people to get a proper diagnosis.

Best wishes for your daughter and my hopes you get to the bottom of this and it resolves well for you.
