Parents.

We all know without them we would not have been born.
But...
How do you feel about them personally?

My mom and dad got a divorce when I was about 14.
They were very bad parents as far as parenting skills go.
Neither of them had any business procreating. But they did and here I am.

It doesn't matter...they made me who I am....they were pretty bad, but they were also pretty damn good.

My parents majored in parenting in college with a minor in marriage, so they had an advantage and stayed married for 44 years.

My mom was great overall, even though we had some major ups and downs. She died awhile back though, during one of our "downs", so that was a shitty way for it to end.

My Dad is probably the coolest person I know...he is pretty damn crazy, and can be a tad eccentric at times, but means well. Through all the crap that I've gone through with them, I am extremely grateful for them.

I think I'm pretty lucky in the parent's department.

I get along with my mother, but we also butt heads pretty frequently. We're polar opposites on the political and religious spectrums.

My dad is like my best friend. I talk to him daily, though we live about 5 hours apart. Usually even several times every day. I wish he wasn't 20-something years older than me so he will be around longer, but his experience has proven invaluable to me.

When I was younger, I just thought they were out to get me. But, I now realize they were keeping me from all the bad stuff in the world and slowly began to let me live my life. My mom has always supported me and been there for me. My dad has always supported me as well, and has also given me great insight to many of the worlds wonders, such as pouring a great mixed drink, or adding on to a house, or how to fix a toilet, and drive a stick shift, etc. etc.

They have both taught me so much and they were perfect and still are perfect

Edit: They divorced when I was young. I lived with my dad afterwards, and he was never really the same. He became a functioning alcoholic and couldn't provide much support, financial or emotional.

My parents where very good in many ways. Both are pretty intelligent and made a lot of money. but they raise us not to be spoiled. We worked on our farm, and learned hard labor at early ages.

If there is one legacy that they wanted to pass down it is this
"We have always tried to do better then our parents did, and we hope that you kids will do the same"

I would say the more then succeeded at their jobs, it will be very hard for me to out-do what they did.

A+ for them, would be raised by them again!

My parents are awesome. They, along with my in-laws, are also the best and cheapest babysitters as well.

Even though my brother and I stumbled through high school they encouraged us to stick with academics and make a brighter future for ourselves. They sacrified their lifestyle to provide us with most anything we wanted and everything we needed.

Dad sucks. He thinks everything happens to me is luck and I have no ability of my own. Once went as far as the say that I don't "deserve more than to be a bum on the street corner." Needless to say, we don't get along.

Parents were high school sweethearts and have been together for 30+ years.

Great parents who have always been there for me. I pulled the usual snot nosed teenager stuff and thankfully my parents let that go about 10 feet before popping me in the nose (not literally) and telling me that shit wasn't going to fly.

During college I pulled a 360 from what i'd been planning (switched majors, left rotc, etc.) and they never once said a word (my dad is still in the military (27 years) and he backed me 100%).

I wouldn't be who I was without them and I thank them every chance I get.

My parents are great. They've always supported me in my decisions and given me advice when I need it. Granted, they were tough on me growing up, but at least I'm a polite, clean, functioning member of society.

My parents are awesome. They're a little strict, moreso my mom, but as a kid and now I couldn't have asked for better parents.
