parking ticket appeal

So I've gotten two parking tickets over the past week. I'm renting a room in a house and the street that the house is on is 2 hour parking 7-7pm on weekdays unless you have a residential pass. I don't have a pass. I could get one but I'm moving out in like 3 weeks so I haven't bothered. I usually park in the driveway but lately it's been filling up. Anyways I was parked on the street in front of my house on the Sunday and I forgot to move it. Next morning I got a parking ticket. Same thing happened this week. The location on the tickets says 300 Lynn St. when I live in 319. That's about 4-5 houses down or 100 so yards. Is that enough to get an appeal? I'm gonna guess not but if I can avoid 80 dollars in fines than that will make my week!

TL;DR ticket locations says 300 Lynn St. when I was parked at 319 Lynn St (about 4-5 houses down). Is that enough to get an appeal?

No, you will lose.

Same as if the cop put the wrong color of your car on a ticket, it still applies.

Many times; if a block is no parking; the ticket will indicate the start of the block vs the actual address.

And you gambled and apparently lost by choosing to not get a parking pass.

Coming from someone who's fought a good amount of parking tickets and won a fair share, I'd say you're screwed.

They usually have photo evidence of you parking illegally. That will trump whatever mistake they made on the address.

So I got busted making meth in my house and the police report says I had 3kg of the stuff but there was 4kg. Do you think I will get off?

In all likelihood, there is no house numbered "300". It's the 300 block; all houses on that block are in the 300's. That's what the ticket refers to & it's apparently correct.

one time i got a ticket in a garage in downtown walnut creek, ca. i just happened to be watching the news a few days later and they had a story about tickets in that county. i turns out that the tickets you get in a garage there are actually from a private company and not any kind of government agency and they had no legal authority to make you pay that ticket. you could literally tear the ticket up and ignore it. the worst they could do was tow your car if you parked in their lots again. so i didnt pay it and no one has ever come after me for payment and its been like five years....

so look at your ticket carefully and check whether it comes from a government agency or not cuz payment might be "optional"...

You will lose. It's very uncommon for them to put exact address. The ticket is saying "300 block" not exact 300 address.

And I can't stand people that knowingly improperly park, so it brings me a little joy that you have no choice but to pay the ticket.

you must be pretty stupid to not only have this happen once, but to happen twice.

i think that 300 would imply the 300 block anyways. you are screwed, just pay up cause you screwed up.

They could put a whole other city/street on there if they wanted to. It's your word against theirs. For 3 weeks I would have just get a monthly pass.
