I found the food. That isn't so funny. I thought the vast internet might have come up with something far more amusing.

oh, I'm sure it has and I know I have. I just don't want to post it because this business idea is gold.

My son went to the UK a few years ago and discovered bangers & mash, a dish that he loves. He always loved fish & chips, who doesn't, but it is hard to find decent fish & chips here for some reason. He also discovered Indian food while he was in the UK as they have some of the best Indian restaurants in the world there.

Ye Old Ship in Santa Ana has excellent fish and chips. Not so much at their Fullerton location.

I suspect that a bunch of you eating crap food in the UK are going to a 'Spoons and then being all surprised that the cheap crap that you are buying is in fact cheap crap.
You can get good food most places in most countries, you just have to make a tiny bit of effort to find it.

Nope, been there 12 times for a month at a time over a period of 10 years. I had a corporate card with a $75/meal limit (with several tricks to circumvent that), and spent plenty of time and effort finding the best restaurants we could.

Of course you can find good food there, but you can find good food in any country if you look. There are plenty of good gastropubs I've been to, and the food overall is improving over time

The point, though, is that it's harder to find those good places and the food, on average, is worse than other countries.

Let's put it this way - I've been to 10 other countries in Europe for personal travel. I had better food in each of those countries than I did in England, and spent less money and time finding them.

I LOVE the dark chocolate McVittes biscuits, though I can get them in the US now.

Best way is to wait until the following morning. Slice the Christmas pudding, fry it in butter, flambé it in brandy, then serve it with brandy cream.
Make sure you don't have any cardio vascular issues first!
