My ACI Titan II LE couldnt reach down low enough, maybe its time for a Maestro

I've got it tuned to 12hz, but anything above -10dB on War of the Worlds is too frightening

Oh dear lord that would be insane at -10dB, I've been trying War of the Worlds too and it's pretty insane to say the least.

Congrats Jello ! I bought my PCPlus 20-39 over the summer and couldn't be happier. I have almost been evicted from my apartment twice though . As you are most like well aware, you're in for some delicious, warm, powerful yet not boomy bass.
Haha, almost evicted twice? Both times for the sub I imagine?

I have mine turned up only about 1/4th because otherwise in my music I get headaches, tons of nice bass! I bring up the gain to about half way when I watch movies since the bass isn't coming at me the whole time for hours and hours

Congrats!! Be sure to post a review here.

hmmm....

Well the short version is that this lives up to all the amazing professional and user reviews I have read. Much more output headroom than the already capable PB10 I still have. If you're thinking about getting one, do it.
Agreed, it lives up to all the reviews and "ungodly" comments people make, this thing is just awesome. Like anything else there is no end to what you can get so I can't say it's the "end all be all" subwoofer, but for a person like me it's pretty darn close if it isn't already

Hasn't been much more than 24 hours that I've had it and it has TONS of bass even at half way without a doubt. Just to give an idea, I'm powering a room about 14 ft by 34 feet with an 8.5 foot ceiling so it's pretty long and I only have it up about half way and I'm considering turning it down just a tad bit. I'll post pictures sometime soon in another thread of my setup, I'm loving it though

Update: party can now continue at Agaboogaboo's house.
<--- hugs his 25-31 PC+
It sounds like it would be too much for my 15 by 14 room. I don't have my HSU half way up, because it's just too much. I should break out the meter, and set the SPL level, but it's such a pain to do without help. Have you guys setup your subs with a meter?

I just got mine yesterday so not yet, will it really make a difference that will be worth the time, effort, and cost of the meter itself?

And yes, for a 15 by 14 room it's going to be more than what you'll need without a doubt, I keep mine at 1/4 or 1/3 for music and just general usage, a little higher for movies though.

I set up my PB10 with a meter but tended to turn it up a bit for movies.

I haven't calibrated the PC+ by anything other than by ear. I'm still having lots of fun with movies so I've tended to run it hot by quite a bit. I haven't bothered setting it up just right for music because I know I'm going to be fiddling with it for movies to test it out.

Britney, Mariah, and Shakira are nothing to be ashamed of, however, if you are listening to Ashlee Simpson it's time we had a talk.

Unless you have one of those receivers that sets up your speakers for you, I think a meter is a must have for your other speakers. I'm not so sure about the sub though. I've never been happy with the sub level using a meter, and always raised the setting afterward. Frankly I thought I was doing something wrong until I spoke to others. I see even jello cranks it higher.

I'm pretty sure the HK does a decent job with setting up the levels for the speakers. Is the mic still in the remote for the 335? I think the 435 and 635 also have autio-equalization but I'm not sure if the 335 does.

I got a meter and changed things a bit vs what my old HK had as the calibration, but the one time I checked my Pioneer level vs the radioshack meter, the results were quite good so I've just stuck with the Pioneer levels and auto equalization since then.
My HK 325 didn't do anything as far as the sub level so I had to use the meter from scratch with it. The Pioneer sets a level, but for action movies I like a lot more from the sub than the Pioneer default setting.

From what I've read, a lot of people run their subs hot for HT use to varying degrees. I'm guilty of not having it set "correctly", but the calibration police aren't going to come and arrest me. I just have to worry about the real police like I'm sure ethebubbeth has experienced
