I think all the anger at the GOP house is a little misdirected. Let's be honest, they were elected to do this. They were elected to do this because enough of this country literally hates poor people and wants them to die. Any discussion of political "polarization" is inexcusably misleading and has been for some time. Polarization is unavoidable when a substantial portion of the population behaves this way.

It's like a person in the hospital battling a serious illness and you say "the disease and the immune system are fighting, and it's killing the patient". No. The disease is killing the patient. And the patient dies because they don't have insurance.

This bill, if enacted, will decimate the Republican base of unhealthy middle aged people in Republican controlled states which would be the ones who waive the pre-existing condition requirement.

Republicanism is a self-solving problem.

Exhibit A:

Trump’s America – Where the men aren’t confused about their gender, the women are able to take care of themselves and the children aren’t fooled by leftist propaganda.

I mean it's not exactly a mystery that boomerang is a psycho. I do kind of find it to be a continuing source of amusement just how totally unaware he is though, haha.

Poor people will die. Somebody's a drama queen...
That's racist.

If what fox quoted today is right, I don't disagree. It's just a different smelling turd.

It also demonstrates their stupidity since so many of them don't understand the core concept of insurance.

Following Nancy's lead.

Of course they read it. How else could they get their pocket lined the most. Just like the D's before them.

Amazing how often this lie gets repeated. Pelosi was saying the bill needed to be passed so the American people could find out what's in it, not so that her own legislative members could. Also, the Democrats held a huge public debate, worked with the CBO to get scoring estimates at every step of the way, etc.

This bill really does draw a dramatic distinction between how Republican and Democratic legislators operate differently. The Democrats spent a year trying to make the best bill possible. The Republicans spent maybe a month and in the end they didn't even care what the effects were. The sheer incompetence is amazing.

That chart is depressing before you even find out that their reps voted against their health care.
The coward from my district wouldn't commit one way or the other until the time of the vote. Of course he voted for it.

I say coward because he has been actively avoiding and refusing to do open town hall meetings. He just does conference calls where there are no questions or prescreened questions.

But they showed that interloper who was in the Whitehouse before Trump.

Wow, someone is taking this hard. Good thing for you the Senate will probably not pass this bill.

That worked out well, didn't it?

The distinction is that the D's took a year to produce a turd. The R's are just effing stupid.

Before anybody has an enormous case of the vapors, it has to go through the Senate first. If it clears that, people are gonna die. In the meantime, I'm going to put a fine polish on my hatred and contempt.

What's so curious is that Obamacare was doing so well. One third of counties in the U.S. had only one insurer, several states were about to lose their only insurer, premiums and deductibles were through the roof for far too many and so on. Why in the world would those vile GOP members want to fuck with a winning formula like that? Oh, that's right, hatred and contempt.

It worked out pretty well, yes. It wasn't perfect, but neither was Medicare or any other large program. Smart public policy means you get the tentpoles down and then work to fix up the parts that aren't working the way you hoped.

It won't get through the Senate without moving significantly more left, which'll just doom it in the House if the Freedom Caucus' history is any indication.

Yes, the obvious solution to ACA issues is to pass a 1T tax cut on the backs of the poor/sick/elderly. Top marks.

I don't think it's incompetence. I think it's malicious indifference.

Hmm, that's probably accurate. I mean really all it comes down to is that the goal of Republicans here was not to pass a health care bill but to pass a tax cut for the rich bill. When you look at it that way the fact that they didn't actually care about the health care parts of the bill makes perfect sense.

Democrats have been all for fixing the problems with the ACA but the obstructionist Republicans would not work with them, for nearly a decade now. the simple fact is that Republicans don't want the federal government involved in or regulating the healthcare industry which history has shown to result in too many uninsured and skyrocketing costs.

the ACHA is far from being law, and only when and if that happens will we truly know the results of the Republicans once again screwing the middle class and working Americans.
