nope... my school is ABET accredited, no dynamics or thermo. can't say i'm complaining either, lol

same here...infact, lots of schools are going into a concentrated education. As much as I enjoyed not taking those courses, I think future generations are missing out. I have already encountered a few of my colleagues going, " Did you not learn that in college"?

yes, in my company, you get a pay raise and a promotion. I am stuck as an E1 and cannot get a raise because have not passed my FE.

YES!!! when the layoffs come thats one of the first things they look at, whos more qualified plus it should give you a bit more $$

Congrats. I passed the FE in the fall and the PE exam in April (license application is in the mail). I've been busy studying for exams since last May (LEED before the FE).

One more exam to go (GMAT).

BTW, I'm an EE as well and the FE was not that bad. I used my freshman physics book to review Statics, Dynamics and Thermodynamics. Not ideal but it helped me catch up so I could use the FE Review Manual. That strategy worked well for me.

it sucks ass... if your school offers a review course, take it. My major is EE, i never had to learn dynamics, thermo, engineering economics and alot of other stuff that was on the test.

if u can solve the problems in that FE guide book, you should be good to go, as the actual test questions are somewhat easier. and a big help is learning the layout of the Equation handbook so u know where everything is, you don't want to waste time looking for some obscure equation somewheres

Zz.. might have to pick up this book, as I am in the same boat (EE).

congrats, I took and passed my FE last october as well in EE.

My experience was a little different, I didn't even review, just went and took it; I actually thought it was actually pretty easy, all the answers are in the equation book, and time wasn't an issue, I left the exam room with an hour to spare.

I haven't met an EE in Texas (Dallas or Austin) who actually needed to be a PE. What industries are y'all in?

You need it if you work for a civil firm or if you go into power.

Thing is, my job is getting serious about it...If I failed my 2nd one, I think i am gonna be canned....

As an EE...it does suck.

My friend who was an EE had trouble as well. He already makes 5-10K more than me though (which I keep emphasizing, but he doesn't care). Considering what he's working on (defense work, not even EE), he doesn't even need it unless he changes careers, but it's still a splinter in his ego haha.

It's more like having just finished undergrad, why not take the test and pass it while it's all fresh in your mind? A lot of people used the same approach for their SAT2 subject tests in high school.

if my school required it i definitely think they are worthwhile courses just for a more complete understanding of physics. the dynamics course offered at my school is probably one of the toughest undergrad courses you can take. i'm not going to take it unless i was forced to, my GPA will thank me

you need your PE when you do anything that involves (or has to go through) regulations.

civil engineers all need it. electrical engineers working on a regulated system (like the power industry) will need it.

It's oil, gas, and municipalities. Anything that involves stamping and going to DEP needs a PE...that includes electrical work.

Engineers do not have subject area GREs, AFAIK, just the general test. The general test has the easiest math problems in the world, but it also has an obscure English section that only Perknose could score perfectly on.

Just here to mention that as a English major in undergrad, I was upset that my verbal score was less than my math score.... and apparently getting a 780 on the math portion (out of 800) qualifies me as an idiot in math (which is, sadly, true).

seriously. i don't know wtf they are thinking with the GREs. the english section is impossibly difficult while the math section a retarded 2nd grader could do well on. ohhh well
