the thing is, at this point, no one knows what happens. all we know is that the ship was heading to like egypt or something and just disappeared off radar. when a helicopter was dispatched, it only saw a few people in the water and on a life raft. that's it. i'm sure im about 2-3 days time, i'll come back and look at this thread and it'll be 10+ pages deep with the results of what exactly happened. this makes baby jesus weap, though.

This is f'ing nuts. As Anubis pointed out how does only 12 people survive out of 1300+?!? Ships that large just don't "fall" off the radar either. Wait a few more hours and we are going to find out some terrorist group has claimed responsibility to this.

Yikes. My first guess would be that it rolled. If the cars were not properly secured or there is a lot of water in the car deck it could happen, as they say it was rough. And it wouldn't be the first time either (see Herald of Free Enterprise and Estonia). Other than that I have no idea (apart from explosion) what would make a ship sink so quickly with so great a loss of life.
