Password protecting folders

In win2k or XP, is there a way to password protect folders? (I'm not talking about on a network).

No. If you're using NTFS you can assign rights to files and folders so that only certain users can get to them. If everyone using the PC uses the same login, you're out of luck.

Not really, you can get 3rd party software that does what you want. Just go to download.com and do a search.

I havn't looked at any of those 3rd party utils you mention, but I'm sure a semi-intelligent person could get around them fairly easily.

There is one by symantec that is very good that I doubt any one could bypass that would be using his setup.

The only thing i can think of is, remove all rights from the folder. and only allow urself to grant permissions (auditing). whenever u want to get in, just change the permission to allow urself and then remove urself too when u r done with the folder.
