To clarify, the drivers are still on the computer, so you should be able to just go into device manager and update the drivers for everything in an error state (and some that are just using the generic MS drivers), but I don't think the settings for the drivers will be retained (come to think of it, the only thing that would actually need to have settings altered would be the wireless so this may be a moot point) and I'm not sure if using the old system file will cause any errors/conflicts. So, ghosting it is probably the better option since stability is the primary concern.
