The crocodile strap on mine broke within the first six months but they did replace it for no charge.

ROTFL!

I've seen many Patek ads in the Wall Street Journal over the years and assumed they were expensive based on their "this-timepiece-should-be-considered-a-family-heirloom" pitch. But $50K for a wristwatch? Proof positive that we can morally make the tax system more progressive!

Let me clarify my original question,

EDIT: I do understand that not everyone can afford it and I'm not asking about ATOT personal financial situations.

Price aside, what do you guys think of the DESIGN and WORKMANSHIP on this particular model?

Basically, if people like the aesthetics and if people have experience or know of their build quality.

My second favorite next to the 3878J skeleton watch. Despite the complications, it still looks minimalistic and clean. Are you able to get that in rose gold?

Looks like a $50 watch if you don't read the name off the face. Probably has $1000 worth of 18k gold in it.

Are expensive watches for guys like expensive purses for women?

I came here expecting to see a hot chick.

I am thoroughly disappointed.

I don't like watches with leather wristbands though, but the face looks great.

I like the face, very clean looking, and elegant. Although i am more partial to arabic numerals. I own a few IWC's and A. Lange and Sohn with similar white clean face.

When someone makes a post about a watch that meets or exceeds the annual median household income in the US - in a general, public forum where the average member is younger and therefore not necessarily well-heeled by virtue of age - it's clear something is out of whack...particularly when the watch in question does not have components (like rare diamonds or metals) that would "support" such a price.

This is an "excess income" luxury item pure and simple, and evidence to me that the tax system can morally be tweaked to bleed off some excess pressure. But of course I am pulling off some armchair economics. I suppose I don't understand the logic and motives of the OP.

Might as well just get your salary tattooed on your wrist and wear a timex. Serves the same purpose.

all i know about patek philippe is i will inherit my grandfathers from my father who has it now.

of course i do not wear watches and would probably rather have the money, but i am not sure if i could sell a family heirloom.
