Playing standard only for the second league in a row. For this early in the league there are a LOT of people in standard, and it seems to be growing.

Well, if Reddit is any indicator, people hate Heist. Not so much Heist itself, but because it was/is so buggy and/or ill laid out. I don't mind it too much. though I rarely do the content. It's sorta boring.

Maybe I'm just being stupid right now, but can somebody explain this support gem combo to me?

Controlled Destruction – Increased Critical Strikes

Does controlled destruction not have 100% Critical strike chance? Then why combine it with Increased Critical Strikes if there's then no chance for critical strikes?
Controlled destruction is 100% 'reduced' and not 100% 'less'. You add up the 'reduced' and 'increased' crit chance to get a final modifier. e.g. -100% from controlled destruction, +88% from increased critical strike chance support, +50% from gear/tree would give you a +38% mod to your crit chance.

I finished last Friday. Decided to stop at 34 for my totem instead of 36 for the portal MTX. This league just didn't do it for me. The alt gems and alt uniques were blah, nearly all of the new skills/reworks were not good and the heist mechanic just felt really unpolished. Honestly, I would have liked the league a lot better if Heist was setup like the unique contracts where you start in lockdown and have to fight your way out.

The real kicker is the condition that it was released in. Every league it takes them 2 to 3 weeks to get things straightened out. This shouldn't happen every league for years as you'd think they'd get better but it does. However, the initial release and any real major problems are usually fixed quickly and then the rest of the 2 to 3 weeks is them tweaking how rewarding the mechanics feel. It's like Ok, I get that that could be hard without community feedback. This time it's like they ran 2 weeks short and rushed out a product that was very much not ready. There were so many things that weren't working or flat out not released yet like the end game bosses that it was baffling. Finally, it seemed like every patch they put out broke something else.

This is one of the products where they really should take a hit to their to sales to force them to retrospect this release and make sure it never happens again. Though I doubt either of those things will happen.

They need to put out less leagues per yer. But less leagues means less supporter packs/MTX sales thus less money.
The other option is to go less ambitious with some leagues - there's no need for all the new spaces and countless NPCs and fragments and crap (except the latter for tab sales of course). But just make 1 or 2 leagues a year where the content is more or less contained within the existing game structure (maps, dwelve, etc). That's the way it used to be and it was fine.

I, too, am not feeling it this league. i try new builds to see if i like the play style and doing things i haven't been able to do before, although i have very limited play time these days.
the number of leagues is okay IMO. this year i liked Delirium and Metamorph, Harvest was great for crafting but i didnt like gardening.

what i wish GGG would do it open a side-league, like an "event league", with an auction house to see how it goes. and if it goes well, incorporate it into the game. trade is just awful and i just want to be able to buy maps easily and quickly buy jewelers, fusings and chromes. for a long time i've been wanting an AH for all non-equipable items.

Not that I think it represents the majority of players (and payers) but there's a revolt growing on reddit. The amount of negative posts (of which many I agree with) is growing more than ever. They just need to "pause" and start to clean up the game. It's amazing how many QoL items there are in the Chinese version that everyone has been begging for over the past several leagues/years.

I just don't seem them pausing or pushing back a league more than a week. They make too many sales from new leagues and that isn't going to make their primary stake holder happy. =]

My cynical response is that they'll claim to realize what went wrong and it'll be better next time. I say this because they have a pretty repeatable case of issues every league which really feel like they shouldn't have made it to release. Then they claim here and there that they'll do a better job, rinse, repeat. My more positive response would be I hope they can perhaps move their norm to the better side of the line and not have anything as terrible as this league's problems happen again for quite awhile. Then everyone on Reddit and their forums will go back to their normal whining and not this extra whiny stuff.

So they already put up their "We're going to do better" post. It's a typical Chris Wilson post in that it's well put together but lacks any real substance. His stuff always reads a bit smoke and mirrors to me. He, in an overly elaborate way, stated they are going to pull back on the quantity of changes in expansions. So that they can maintain their current cycles but still hit their deadlines without having so many problems. But instead of saying that, he's going to run an "experiment" and he's going to be the one to manage the next expansion. Which is code for I'm going to stop these guys from trying to add so much other stuff in outside of the primary concept and whoever is managing this stuff isn't doing a good job.

I started Heist late and gave up on it pretty quick. Even IF it was stable, I still wouldn't have it played it much, since I found the basic idea of the league boring. But the league wasn't/isn't stable, I lost a bunch of heists because of crashes. The whole game needs an overhaul at this point to get me back into it. Some people are hoping POE2 will be the change they need and so was I at one point but I think it's going to be more of the same. I think the devs at GGG have honestly worked for too long on just this one game that now they've either just lost their passion or they're just in it for the money. Chris did sell the company to 10cent (which I don't blame him for lol, it's a nice payout) but I think they're really trying hard to make the game as big of a time sink as possible. I'm sure they've done the math and this is the more profitable path for them but it's turned me off the game... with all these random things of top of yet more random things to do anything in the game worthwhile with the limited amount of time I'm willing to play this game. The game was always a grindfest but it's just getting ridiculous now.

Before quitting, I must have ran at least 500 maps, I never did found my last lab trial.

And as for Chris Wilson's post, I agree it lacked any real substance, but that was to be expected. I would have been surprised if he had actually written anything of substance in there. Unless the next league turns out to be something special, there's zero chance of me playing it. Too many other better games to play.

damn Heist story missions clogging up my inventory. i was FORCED to play Heist yesterday just to get rid of them, i had almost 20 green Heists. this isn't fun.
OTOH, i'm having fun with my Bleed Bow Champion, and i want to try a CoC Firestorm Assassin next.

Events are up. I think I'm going to run an Arc Totem toon for endless Delve. First totem guy in a long time. I can see it working well on shit gear though.

I'm thinking of doing the Delve event as well-one week, starts 12/11. I would advise against totems in delve, you get overwhelmed pretty fast.

I'm basically a totem player (freezing pulse mostly). May do a summoner necro-they have been nerfed a lot, but work for me in delve to some extent.

Would like to hear some other suggestions-multiple button pushes, etc. I don't do well at.

Actually you're probably right. I was thinking Arc because it's easy to gear and the chain will kill to nearly a full screen. But it actually won't because the mobs will be in darkness. I'm going to try and pick something I wouldn't normally play but I'm not sure yet.

In regards to suggested builds, Essence Drain/Contagion Trickster builds level very quickly, clear well and need very little gear. Since this is a SSF event with no crafting table. Delve usually favors builds that do up front damage with corpse removal and elemental immunity. But if you don't plan on Delving past 300-400 then it doesn't really matter. You could do an Icicle Mine Sab. It's mostly up front damage and you'll shatter corpses. It's also easy to incorporate phase run into this build to make quick escapes.

Thanks for the tips. Believe it or not I had never played ED/Contagion. Trying it out now and am impressed. My previous effort with a miner was a failure, seemed liked I could never get the hang of it.

I did not. I forgot about it

I've spent some time in the endless delve this weekend and it was fun. But man SSF is rough once you get into the higher levels. Especially with virtually no crafting either. You just can't start squeezing the stats out of gear like you need to.

I was playing this build:

Can anyone tell me how she's generating endurance charges in that build? I can't figure it out and several points are use in the tree towards charge upgrades.

I hit 90 and stopped for Delve. I played a Raider Ice Crash and then spec'd into Caustic Arrow for a little bit to change things up. Personally, I enjoyed the time I played but got bored once I hit high 80s. It's hard for me to play something this RNG driven for too long. No trading, crafting bench, div cards or prophecy make it pretty hard RNG gated. If they would have put Navali in in the mine camp to turn in div cards I may have played a bit more.

And yeah, I'm at level 76 right now. Not very deep in the delve. But it's starting to grind a little. They could have upped special nodes or something in the mine to make it more interesting, but now many times can I go from jewelry to armor to weapon nodes. Putting a crafting bench in would have been smart I think as then people like me who don't generally craft would have been "forced" to try it out and figure it out a little more.

I don't think I will do the heist event. Just not overly appealing
