huh, that's odd. When I put skills in certain slots, they come up as This skill can't be used. I was looking at dual hand on a duelist and noticed some of the red ones not working if the other weapon was equipped. The skills will appear in the bar but be faded. I think one of the issue I was having before was having the gem in weapon that didn't support it.

It's probably the type of weapon you're trying to use with the skill. For example, some skills can only be used with swords and axes. If you had a mace equipped, you'd get the behavior you were describing. It doesn't matter where the skill is slotted though.

Looks like most of your questions got answered. I would just say this,
1. Don't get in the habit on picking up too much loot. 99.9% of it is useless, especially in the acts. If you're filling up your inventory in a zone and having to go back to stash, you're picking up junk to sell to vendors.
2. Use an item filter
3. Don't use too many skills at once. It's better to just one or two damaging skills and as many support gems as you can linked to them. Each support gem that you link multiplies your damage. Rest of your gems should be ultility, like a totem or something to help against bosses, an aura or two, a curse, a movement skill.
4. Use a couple websites for the smoothest experience, although it's not required.

• https://www.pathofexile.com/trade this is the official trade site. you can look up items and copy a message and send it in game to people to buy. can also search your items to see what people are selling them for to get a rough idea if they're worth anything. you'll quickly see that 99.9% of the loot you have is worthless
• https://www.filterblade.xyz/ grab a loot filter from this site, there's good descriptions. For starting, I would recommend a normal strictness.
• https://www.poelab.com/ when you get far enough in the game to ascend. this will help you.

I think it has to do with dual wielding, are some skills limited to one handed? If I have 2 weapons equipped then I can't use it but with just one I can. What's even weirder is that I can use Call of Steel but not Shattering Steel even though they are from the same gem. If I unequip the 2nd weapon I can use it though previously I was using it with 2 weapons. I don't see anything on the weapon that would reduce skill or such that would lower stats.

I figure for the first league, I'll just wing and learn the general game. I found the issue though. It was since for dual wielding both weapons need to pass the gem's check for weapon, not just the one it's in.

Dam everything is so expensive this league. Or maybe it's because I'm playing a bow build, they're so expensive to gear for running end game smoothly.

Just guessing but you need about 15-18ex to gear this build to feel fairly good at t16. That doesn't include the second 6L. If you don't play on doing the second 6L for Barrage then the best thing you can do is upgrade your bow and run a Dying Sun. The big pdps bows work better for Ice Shot and you'll see a good 30% damage increase over a Death's Opus.

Set up 3 filters. 1 for a 425pdps+ bow with 7.5+ crit and 1.35+ AS. The other 2 filters should be a 425pdps+, crafted NO tag and empty suffix then put 1.35 AS in one and 7.5 crit in the other. That way you can catch a bow you could possible craft crit or AS on. You should be able to buy one of these bows for 1 to 2 ex. If you find one that hits your numbers and is only at 20% quality it's even better because you can 28-30% quality it with Hillock and get even more dps. Dying Suns are only .7ex now for ones with reduced charges so that's an easy purchase.

Got scammed for the first time today.. usually I'm extra careful but was distracted. Trader switched out level 4 enlighten to 3 on me. There goes all the currency I had saved up lol..

edit: honestly pretty bummed out but I'll take it as a learning moment.. don't trade while playing with your kid.

Running lvl 22 hatred from replica hyrri's truth amulet which is 50% less reserved,
herald of ice + skitterbots + lvl 2 precision + lvl 3 enlighten.
I was hoping to link lvl 4 enlighten to skitterbots + precision + bonechill.
Also have the 40% increased damage enchant for ice shot, could switch to reduced reservation for herald of ice.

Thanks AGAIN for your help man. I've been trying to speedrun maps this league to actually get good at this game... and getting scammed bummed me out so much today. I actually just alt f4ed out of PoE and booted up Starcraft II and cheesed a couple people on the ladder...

edit: i feel bad when I cheese people, these scammers must be heartless lol.

But how do you calculate someone else's DPS. You've got my mine right. Character sheet tells me my DPS is 77k. But I know flasks boost it quite a bit.

The in game info for some things is accurate but DPS is definitely not one of them. You really have to use a tool called Path of Building to calculate information in this game, anything from DPS to damage reduction to skill cool downs. I'll catch you online some time this week and toss you my stuff.

So I decided to give the league a try. I think I made a mistake with my body armor. I bought a 4 socket to save currency in the short term. I took it to altar of corruption and hit 4 white sockets. It's like to keep the 4 white as I change it to 6 socket. It's the 6 socket recipe from delve the only safe way to keep the 4 white? If I use jewelers and it rolls 3 sockets then 4 is the 4th one still permanent white or will it be colored?

Very generally speaking, you don't really aim for stat points you path to notables. If you're missing stats on a build you can often make it up on your equipment. You could easily make up over 100 stat points on a couple of items.

To directly answer this question, you can color, socket and link corrupted armour and the cost is the equal amount of vaal orbs to the normal cost of a non corrupted item. It was 350 jewelers to 6s a normal item then it's 350 vaal orbs and 350 jewelers for a corrupted item. The 6s and 6L recipes are from Delve, respectively the Abyss and Primal cities.

With that said you shouldn't be going the route you're going. White sockets generally aren't that desirable unless you're trying to use an armour that has practically all off colors to the stats it requires. If you're in trade league you just buy a 6L armour. You can get a 6L armour with resists and life corrupted for 12-15c and non-corrupted for 15-20c. If you go the corrupted route just make sure you have the stats and the colors match what you need before buying it.

Yeah, I was looking to use a 6L unique with 5 off colors. I bought an unlinked 3 socket and was using the bench craft socket craft to get my off colors. I had gotten it to 4 socket and was taking a break until I got the 6 socket delve craft but then I stupidly put it in the corruption altar. I got 4 white but bricked it for my purposes since it doesn't make sense to dump that many Vaal orbs into it.

In that case I guess it depends on where you're at in terms of end game. The new T4 Vorici bench gives 1 to 6 socket and it would be easy to buy these off of TFT. You could also roll a few of the off colors and cross your fingers on a T3 Vorici. If it's a common armour you could also just put up a trade filter for the color combo you want and you may get lucky and find one with the off colors. Then you can link it yourself.

Like stated above, likely your cheapest and quickest option would be to just buy another similar armour already linked. Unless you've got a godly combo of mods armour that you want to link/off colour.
