Operating room personnel typically have to worry about oxygen and volatile gases collecting under the surgical drapes, to which an arc from electrocautery or lazer devices can set fire and burn pretty vigorously. People have also died when an electrocautery or lazer device has pierced the patient's endotracheal tube and ignited the oxygen + volatile gases, severely burning the lining of their trachea or lungs.

But a fire being caused due to the patient letting-fly with a big burly fart is a new one for me.

DAYUM!!!...i can't even fathom the thought...imagine going in for something that's considered standard procedure, only to come out with tube sticking outta your neck in order to breath or even worse, not come out at all...
