At the very least, you're an ingrate.
Absolutely not. I am entirely for this war and everything behind it, and support the troops more than 100%.
Unfortunately for whiny liberals who would like to smear offensive pentagrams all over a largely Judeo-Christian-based cemetary filled with sacred religious symbols, I do not support his wife's requests.
Now please go somewhere else with your attacking of anyone's patriotism and holier-than-thou spewing of the infamous "you sit back and watch while everyone else does the work" viewpoint. It does not apply here and is completely unnecessary in a situation such as this.
Yes, it is necessary. As long as a narrow minded point of view is allowed to supplant The Constitution in an attempt to force their beliefs on the rest of us.
Judeo-Christianity is not the official religion of this country.
If you had read the article, you would see where Buddhist and even ATHEIST symbology is allowed on the memorial.
Wicca is NOT satanic worship, FYI. Of course, zealots need to have an "enemy" and the media have fed the line of BS of Satanic Cults so that the simple minded have somthing to fear. Wicca is more closely paralled with the relationship with the Earth and Nature than satan. It's belief that "god" or GAIA (the Earth Goddess) is what is holy.
What is unnecessary is your attack of his religious beliefs. Which, last I checked, he is free to practice, according to the CONSTITUTION that he died defending. You DO NOT have to agree with them, practice them or like them. But if you claim to be a "patriot" you MUST allow them to exist. If not, then you label yourself "unpatriotic" by your refusal to support and defend all aspects of The Constitution and The Bill of Rights.
The troops do not get to pick and choose which parts of The Great Documents they are killing to protect and defend , neither do I nor do YOU.
It seems as if he was American enough for his Commander and the rest of his troops (some of whom are undoubtedly "Judeo-Christian") to accept those beliefs.
It's unfortunate that your fundamentalist zealotry forces you to surrender your ability to reason, or have empathy for anyone who doesn't proscribe to your narrow minded views.
I didn't attack your patriotism any more than you attacked one of those "troops" you claim to support. I support them all, I do not pick and choose who are "better" than others, I guess, YOUR god (no caps because it is a lesser god) allows for that.
Until you're willing admit that you only support those troops that are Judeo-Christian and that "your" reason for this war is to promote Judeo-Christian intolerance, rather than the reasons of Democracy and PLURALISM as stated by the Commander in Chief, you taint those brave troops from behind the safety of the monitor with your vile and unpatriotic beliefs.
And yet, you are allowed to have them in MY United States. Too bad you don't return the favor to those who make it possible to have them.
edit: BTW, I know you've assumed I'm a "gasp"
LIBERAL. That would be another incorrect assumption by you. I was conservative before the NEO-Cons put the "CON" in conservative. What I am however, is a tolerant conservative, something that went out of favor when intelligence was given up in favor for blind patriotism.
