OK so this isn't Corsair, OCZ or Mushkin. New kid on the block maybe. I purchased one 512 stick of Patriot DDR500 some time ago and it has done OK. Passed memtest86 and I received the rebate associated with the deal. $89.99 less $20 rebate so $69.99 final cost. Call it a bargain. This deal doesn't look too bad if you want quality RAM at a decent price. They claim CAS 2 but they may be a YMMV. THe price is right though, and Outpost is definitely a reliable vendor. Be prepared to wait a while for the rebate though. (rebate expires on 2004-08-19)

that's an awesome deal for cas 2.. however i still wouldnt trust anything other than kingston/crucial.

From the rebate part number it looks like this is the manufacture's data sheet , however, it says CAS 3

this is a typo, the rebate clearly says part # PSD1G400K, its CAS 3

The Outpost description is for the Dual Channel Patriot RAM which is CAS 2. The rebate is for their "Signature" series which is CAS 3. I wonder which one it really is? Only 1 year warranty though. Patriot is going to have to warranty their RAM more than 1 year to get any business from the mainstream RAM manaufacturers.

I'd be really surprised if it was cas 2...its a generic brand..but good for basic system builds..not a bad deal.

Strange, I only see "lifetime" warranty on their site. On both the products and in the Warranty FAQ section.

I guess Outpost must have messed that up in their description too:

"Patriot 1GB PC3200 Dual Channel 2X512MB CAS2 DDR 184Pin - 1 Year Warranty"

Then again, this may be classified as OEM by Patriot which does carry a 1 year warranty according to this page.

I hate when they have discrepancies like this...

I received the memory today. It's made in the USA and does have a "Lifetime Warranty". The pack is a dual pack of thier Signature Line memory. Each stick has the model PSD1G400K and is CL3.

Will try it out later in new system!

BEWARE patriot memory sticks!!!

I had a pair last time through fry's and they don't even boot up my ISG-7. Ends up trading it for a pair of OCZ. Seems like some boards are very picky on the memories, and they don't like this new kid on the block.

Got the PDP Patriot 1 GB (2x512) $119 AR at Fry's in Anaheim, CA. Tried on two different systems and compared against a pair of 128MB PC3200 OEM DELL RAM that came with a Dell Dimension 8300. The results:

Dell Dimension 8300 (Intel 875)

OEM RAM (uses Mosel chips)
Memtest - 2372
Sandra 04 - 4378/4387

PDP RAM (uses Samsung chips)
Memtest - 2424
Sandra 04 - 4562/4567

ABIT AN7 (Nvidia nForce2)

OEM RAM 2.5v timings 2.5-3-2
Memtest - 1479
Sandra 04 - 3030/2842

PDP RAM 2.5v timings 3-3-3
Memtest - 1449
Sandra 04 - 3035/2838

The PDP is a hair faster than the OEM RAM. If the RAM timings for the OEM RAM were slowed to equal the timing on the PDP on the AN7 the PDP would probably show the same percentage improvement as on the i875. The PDP's SPD programming is tighter than the OEM RAM. I tried upping the voltage all the way to 2.9v to see if I can lower any of the PDP timings, but no go. I haven't tried overclocking via FSB. I don't intend to.

Looks like a great deal for non-overclockers looking for JDEC PC3200 3-3-3-8 spec'd RAM!
