Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have two sets of Patriot DDR2 6400 ram:

PDC22G6400LLK (800MHz 4-4-4-12) 2 x 1 GB, 2.2v
PVS24G6400LLKN (800MHz 4-4-4-12) 2 x 2 GB, 2.1v

What should I be setting DDR2 voltage at in the BIOS?

I have been asking questions on the OC forum trying to get my OC stable and I have been getting a lot of worries about me running the RAM at 2.2v -- however, I think, I should be running it at 2.1v at least.

Is it crazy to run the 2.1v kit at 2.2?

I am not sure that I'll have to, but I am having stability issues with the RAM (maybe because it's just worn out) so I'd like to know what the "correct" settings should be for this RAM.

Thanks.

2.2V should be perfectly fine. It's possible that the mobo may not even be feeding the correct voltage to the memory, P35-based mobos are notorious for vdroop after a while for the CPU, and it may be also limiting the voltage going to the ram.

Best options would be to test the ram on a different PC, but you may need 2.3V to get an actual 2.1-2.2V. Alternatively, that ram may be failing. The first model you listed there is a bit older, I see references for it from 2007, so we're talking about ram made on an older fab process, larger and it will run hotter, and perhaps be more prone to electromigration.

Use 2.20V since the LLK module is not rated reliable at lower voltages. The absolute maximum allowed by chip manufacturers for DDR2 is 2.35V.

Thanks guys. I thought the recommended volts was to go high with these sticks. I'm glad I asked the question.

As it turns out I may also have a couple of bad sticks with the PDC22G6400LLK 2 x 1 GB set. I have pulled them and it has significantly impacted stability along with going from 1.8, 1.9v to 2.1v.

I would drop timings down to 5-5-5-18, and drop voltage to 1.9 or 2.0v.

Good advice here given how old my components are (VL, saw your post on my other thread too. Thanks.)
