Steelers are a very physical team so that may play a factor, but even from a Steelers fan, I have a feeling the Pats will come out in the end.

BTW I am tired of the Pats winning for the past 5 years, I hope Miami kicks their ass next week

that said.... this game with the steelers is going to be tightly contested much like indy + dallas + baltimore

Add up the Steelers opponents records. It's much worse than the Pats opponents.

They've only played 3 games(including Cleveland twice) where the opponent had a winning record.

Have been pathetic on the road.

Pats by 14.

Lost three road games by a total of 13 points, not that bad. What worries me more is the reasons they lost. Those areas have hardly been completely corrected, and have reared their ugly heads in home games as well.

Going by the current records, IIRC Pats had 6 games against teams .500 or better, Pitt 5. IMHO both have enjoyed a fairly "soft" schedule. No desire to add up the wins/losses of Pitt opponents thus far as I fail to see how that will have any impact on the game. That goes for both teams, besides the fact every game is different due to personel/scheme matchups.

Scouts' Edge:
This is a very tough game to call. On one hand New England is going to have to play much better then it has the past few weeks because Pittsburgh is a much better team on both sides of the ball than Philadelphia or Baltimore. However, we are also a little concerned about Pittsburgh playing on the road where all three of their losses came to teams that are not currently above .500.

The Steelers have the versatility on offense and defense to match up in this football game and they will not be in awe this week. They are a veteran team that is used to these types of situations and have thrived in these spots in past years. This game comes down to two critical factors for the Steelers. They need to be able to establish the ground game, while showing that they are the more physical team and they need to play solid in the backend of their secondary. Pittsburgh has the No. 1 ranked pass offense, but is has not faced an offense that can throw like the Patriots can. While we think Pittsburgh can get it done and would not be shocked if it did, it would be very difficult to pick against the Pats at home. We will take the Pats to win on a late FG to win the game.

The Pats just played a monday night away game. One day of less rest and preparation.

The Steelers have a chance. But the Dolphins have no way in hell to win.

I didn't think the Beagles or the Ravens would either, I expected them to get blown out of the stadium especially starting backup QBs. Dolphins have lost 6 games by 3 points or less, which only has to make their winless season that much more unbearable for them lol.
I'm a firm believer in the any team, any sunday mantra and trap games happen all the time.

Thirty-three reasons the Patriots will lose on Sunday

Some of those are tongue in cheek and have nothing to do with the game. Take it for what it is worth, which is not much at all lol.

my point was... no one is hyping the steelers. The pats are a product of a weak schedule.

Anyone saying the Steelers have no chance is an idiot. Would be stupid to pick against the Pats, but they're not invincible. The Steelers have the best shot to do it in the reg season.

Yet, they've beaten the 2nd and 3rd best teams in the NFL.

Both starting safeties have been out for awhile. This will just give Anthony Smith a chance to back up his talk. Troy experienced some swelling after a teamate rolled over his injured leg during practice Wednesday.

Troy did not practice today (Friday), most likely he will not play. Holmes struggled through practice on a badly sprained ankle but is still planning on making the start.

Interesting side note:
The last 2 times these teams faced each other in the regular season, the team that lost went on to win the Superbowl.

Roethlisberger is on my fantasy team... so I'm rooting for him on principle.

I think the Pats will learn from Chicagos mistake.

This is so absurd. How can anyone justify a team that hasn't had a victory in ONE game to beat a team that HASN'T LOST a game??? There's just no intelligent reasoning behind it. It's rediculous. I cannot wait for the Patriots to DESTORY the Dolphins.

I guess you forgot about this game. Situation wasn't too different.

Granted I don't think the Dolphins will beat the Patriots, but I'm not one to say its impossible, especially not in the NFL, and especially when it has essentially already been done before.

Honestly. as a Pats fan, I couldn't care less whether or not they go undefeated in the regular season as long as they win the Super Bowl. I'd hate to have Brady or Randy or Wes get injured in Week 16 when they're in the game simply to go undefeated and end up missing the playoffs. *knock on wood*.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night. Patriots better win the superbowl this year or else I'd have to bet you'd need therapy.

I'm not convinced the Patriots team this year is better than their 2004 team if only because that's when their defense seemed to hit its peak. This year's defense has clearly shown signs of age and the only reason it has been overlooked this long into the season is because of their very potent offense (of which the best defense is a good offense) - and that offense might be better but it certainly isn't more well rounded. If there's a snowy/sloppy playoff game in Foxborro (far from an uncommon occurrence) where the passing game is largely taken out of the equation, the Patriots could very well be fucked if they have to play a team with a superior/more experienced run game.

Looks like you're the one that needs something to make you sleep better.

The Pats will have home field advantage playing on turf, so no sloppy conditions. Obviously, you don't remember the snow bowl where the Pats won the game via the pass.

The Pats do rush for 121 yards per game (tied with Dallas but with more TDs). And their short passing attack is just as effective as a running game.

Dude, I just hope that Brady will be on his game and the Pats receivers are also on from now on. With the performances of the last three games, I do not want to see them ever playing like that again because it made them look really bad.

They don't really have a running game (Maroney barely averages 50 rushing yards/game if that - I didn't check stats and Faulk is not even close), seems to me the blockers have been getting complacent and so is the defense because they got used to the O blowing people out. We just have to hope that the last two games are a wake up call for them, and that they need to start putting their minds back to playing as best as they can.

Wonder if either team will run anything under the pretext of setting up something for a possible playoff matchup. The most important part of this game is the game film and the value it will have should they meet again in January.

Pitt will be somewhat limited in today's game without Troy. They will still be able to run most the their zone blitzes, but not everything. Holmes should be on the field, but I don't expect anything out of him other than being a decoy and hopefully helping stretch the field to open things up underneath.

Should be a good one, hope everyone enjoys the game.

I have a feeling today would be the Pats first loss. Philly and Baltimore both came close with mediocre offenses and defense in Philly's case. I think they're losing some steam.
