It was a strong enough case to easily convict him and the standards for civil trials are even lower. In a criminal case it's beyond a reasonable doubt, but for civil it's essentially 51%. Odin's family should have no trouble. If the evidence was strong enough to send him away for life it's good enough to get damages.

The $$ is probably long gone by now and they were not married yet so probably not. IMPO H was kind of "addicted" to thuggery, he produced on the field for the Pats, showed up early and often stayed late practicing so he did love football.
