I'm not a gambler...so how does this over under stuff work anyways? Can anyone provide me with an explanation for non-gamblers? How does over/under differ from just covering the spread?

If you bet Over(the points for the game is 48) then the total of both teams has to pass 48. If you bet Under then the total has to be less than 48. Over/Under is a very easy bet to make, yet I screwed the pooch this week. First time I have bet on NFL. I just started betting 3 weeks ago with 80 dollars on 4 different college games. After last night I was at 495.64 dollars. Pretty good profit for just three weeks.

I did PM you, but I bet through an offshore sportsbook. I have never used a bookie because I would like to keep my betting legal.

The halftime bet was a no duh bet. They have the raider's as a 1/2 point underdog. If the raiders win(don't have to worry about the 1/2 it doesn't matter) then I will make bank. Hopefully my over will work out too.

I was shocked as well. I only put 50 on it though. I am kicking myself for not betting at least several hundred. I need some point for my over bet though... Damn I should have bet more.

Damn... why couldn't he make that FG. Now I am screwed on the over. I needed two TDS or a TD and a FG. Well maybe if they score they will go for two because a FG will not help them to tie... so if they get a TD with two point conversion and tie the game I am all set because Oakland would pull out in OT. I wouldn't mind if they got the 8 and Oakland got a FG either.
