Honestly, aside from some of his huge hits, I've never been incredibly impressed with his recorded sets. But I will never put down his skills and ear for awesome music after seeing him in all his glory live last year...That made almost any set (based on music choices alone) sound like ameteur fvcking around, comparitively.

Out of his CD compilations, there isn't a whole lot that I totally fall in love with. Yeah, the man is amazing, but I'd rather take his skills live (Back then), than in the Studio.

Where did you see him? And what was the date if you remember? Curious to see a tracklisting.

KS

I believe it was July 2nd or 5th 2004 at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI.

If you could find a tracklisting, that would be excellent...there were a few poppy/top 40 kind of BS he threw in there to keep some of the crowd happy (Coldplay, U2, etc.) but there were a few in there that just...needed to be heard.

Yeah, I remember some of the heavier stuff he played. Was soo freaking awesome. Was a great night.

I couldn't find an Oakenfold only version. The only EM I could find for 31-12-1999 is Carl Cox, Sasha, Danny Rampling, Colin Hamilton, Dave Pearce, Fatboy Slim, Judge Jules, Junior Vasquez, Paul Oakenfold.
Meh : /

edit: oh yeah, and I meant 31-12-1999 for the last post as well (not 2000)

Thus the reason for my nic here on AT. I've since moved on to Paul Van Dyk but yes the EM sets from 99-00 are the only reason why I still like Oakie. I never get tired of those, Miami is one of my all time fav's.

Keyser, good choice. If memory serves me right the first vocal track is:
"Turn it around Baby, spend more time with me".
Excellent song.

Please, work on a torrent for this! I have some experience with downloading via BT, but none with starting a torrent. Regardless, I'd be more than willing to help you figure it out.

Oakie is the god of trance as far as I'm concerned. I was always a metalhead who wouldn't listen to much else.. a friend had a trance tape that I really liked though, this was years back btw. I resisted it for years, but finally got Creamfields, and was simply blown away by cd1. After getting much more into trance and making it my 3rd favorite genre after metal & classic rock, I realized (after finally buying it) that Oakenfold's Tranceport was the tape my buddy had that I liked all those years ago. I've since gotten a couple of perfecto CDs and I want more, damnit!

Nice, and it's posts like this that will get me to do it! I only have one more EM to get, the one from May of that year was wrong, I should have it by tomorrow. And then, I WILL Torrent them, probably starting sunday night. I have no idea how to do it, but I will.

And yes, Creamfields was amazing. Oakie hasn't put anything together like that in a while.

You will be blown away, I promise.
