Too bad a dump truck load of new evidence couldn't be make public about republican's before the vote to erode their position on this tax bill.

Aren't most of them irrespective of what side of the aisle they align themselves with? At least Democrats support social programs that benefit the poorest and working people who are the greatest segment of our population. If you listen to republicans they'd have you believe that anybody not earning minimum wage is middle class which is pure manure.

What boggles my mind even further is how so many people on SS and its programs voted republican in the first place. They complain about protecting their benefits then vote in the very people who are seeking to destroy them. How stupid is that?

yea, its very odd to me. my pops being a prime example of diehard Con that complains about costs of medicare

i have one bro who ia very smart, but took this election to kind of wake him up. out of 3 brothers, hes the one that stuck the most with religion, which i think plays a large part. weve had discussions this year, regarding healthcare, taxes, net neutrality, etc....and while his vote didnt change our states electoral college status, he regrets it.

That's because it's 2 fold:

1st: GOP promises to not touch anyone who is already on it

2nd: GOP tells them that if we don't cut future generations, nobody will be able to get it, including ones already on it Many times, they tell them that nobody will get anything and fail to mention that even if nothing is done, it would still be paid at 70% levels.

I wonder if Ryan has given up on his dream of a FLAT TAX (everyone pays same rate - no deductions type)? I remember him earlier this year talking about it along with medicare/SS cuts (GOP reform).

Please. The Congressional GOP knows what they're doing. Their relationship with their uber wealthy right wing donor base is like feeding the bears- if you try to quit, they'll eat you. They'd rather take their chances with the voters. They need to pass this tax turkey now so they can pivot to their usual mind rot for the midterms.

I would freakin' love that, where everyone pays the same flat rate on every dollar above the poverty level, with no deductions. But on EVERY dollar, including trust funds, capital gains, whatever.

Do you think that will raise or lower your taxes?
