You never drove in Detroit?

59 is a great example. The posted limit is 55 but if you do less than 85 you will mess up traffic for everyone. 75 on the weekends might as well be the Autobahn.

fucking law breaking drivers all need to die

/gently mocking anti-cyclist hate when they break laws

I don't get the hate in this reply...

I also had a chance to drive on the autobahn many years ago as the result of weird circumstances...it was an opal station wagon that was a 5 speed that topped out at 125 mph down a hill...

I had to drive from Slovenia to Berlin in one day...the amount of smart cars that were blowing past me was amazing lol.

It's not hate at all. It's speaking to someone's ignorance.

There have been motorists pulled off the road on the autobahn for sticking in the left lane. A lot of American's get a thrill for doing that there for whatever reason they get their jollies from it.

What happened with this Porsche is like when a Blue Angel has a malfunction and dies.

JFC, no it isn't. There's no way I need to explain to you the difference between the Blue Angels and two guys ripping down a public road in a powerful sportscar. Now I _know_ you're just trolling.

Now you are just mad.

There still is no proof they were reckless driving.

The sad part is everyone assumes this when a sportscar gets wrecked. They very easily could have been just driving a bit fast and lost braking or steering.

90 mph in a 45 zone is reckless driving, stop being obtuse.

I said nothing about reckless driving, although I agree with uclaLabrat. You equated a malfunction in a Blue Angels aircraft with what happened to this Porsche, and I'm saying specifically that is a) unwarranted, and b) silly. It's unwarranted because we don't know there was any malfunction with the car. It may have been simple loss of control. It's silly because of the vast differences between how and where the Blue Angels operate, and how and where this car was operated.

Since it is impossible for you to be completely heedless of these differences (since I assume there is a functioning brain behind your posts), I conclude you're trolling.

A Blue Angles malfunction could indeed harm civilians.

There is a very high probability and why there is a belief that there must have been a mechanical issue.

Lack of skid marks being to top one.

No it is speeding. Reckless driving is an entirely different definition.

It's clear most don't know much about traffic law nor motor sports here.

You would be given a reckless driving citation and maybe arrested for going that fast in a 45.

Doubling the speed limit is considered reckless driving in some states.

It's 100% clear that traffic law and motor sports are two of the many many things that you don't know about here, or anywhere else.

In California 20MPH over the posted speed limit is considered reckless driving and any single car accident on a city street in which the vehicle was traveling at a speed high enough to wipe out a light post and a tree would be considered reckless driving in any jurisdiction. It's now a toss-up between you in this thread and Dari in the motorcycle thread to see who has made the biggest fool of himself on ATOT for 2013. You have to have run into a few trees at 100mph headfirst yourself to have the sort of brain damage necessary to view this as anything other than reckless driving.

I was stopped at 127mph in a 55mph once. It was just a speeding ticket.

I wasn't being reckless. There was no one to endanger around me. I was just exploring my car.

I also did 597 miles in 6 hours with two fuel stops. Again it was never reckless.

If I would have been stopped, yet the officer could have arrested me.

In CA you have idiotic lawsuits, also many get overturned.

I would suggest you shut the fuck up if you want to just attack me; focus on the cases you are trying to imply.

Stay Frosty you madman!

So just so this is clear, apparently many are either focused on that tricked out Honda weaving through traffic, the guy in the $500k sport coupe that's a professional racer, or me in my M3 I sold.

Yep, in ~20 of them it's automatic, and in all states it's within the officer's discretion to ticket for reckless driving if you're speeding at 2x the posted limit.

Have any of you driven a Carrera GT?

It was a Le Mans car that got homologated for road use - a decision made by the top brass in Stuttgart.

The car requires considerable skill to drive fast; it is not nearly as forgiving as many supercars or exotics.

An acquaintance of mine (Ben) in his new 2005 CGT was on a track in SoCal with his friend Cory (who was in the market for one) when a guy in a Ferrari merged from the pit lane at ~70mph when my buddy was doing ~185mph.

They didn't make it - that was a shocker to me.

You can read about how Ben's family sued Porsche for what they considered as a "dangerous car" that was released for road use here: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/24/4-5-million-awarded-in-porsche-carrera-gt-case/

The end result is that if you drive a CGT fast, there is very little room for error.

The CGT, after all, comes with a ceramic clutch and the friction zone is miniscule compared to other stick-shift cars.

Long story short, even if you are an experienced driver with plenty of seat time in very fast cars or have done serious track time, treat the CGT with respect.

If they were doing 90 - 100mph on the road and something hit the car or they spun out, the margin to correct would have been next to nil; hence the tragedy.

It's interesting this is your battle here now.

Fake

A photo of a man who has a massive facial injury that is alleged to be dead “Fast and Furious” star Paul Walker is actually of a Christian missionary who died in 2011.

A large number of people shared the photo on Faebook and Twitter with “RIP” messages, unaware that the photo was actually of Alan Dennis, a Christian missionary who died in a construction accident in the Democratic Republic of the Congo two years ago
