Love this show.. It's like Antiques Roadshow, but for the modern generation.

Anyone ever visit The Gold & Silver Pawn shop in Las Vegas?
http://gspawn.com/

It amazes me watching this show how stupid some people are when they bring their crap in to sell..

I wonder if people bring some of the crap in just on the off chance they might get on TV.

I hate this show because I like it. Because I need to do other things, but it keep me watching and distracted, with a relatively low amount of actual content, lol.

Its a pretty good show. I like it.

One of my buddies was there and took pics. None of the employees who are on the show were there when he was.

He used to post on here

how come 'The Old Man' sounds just like the Pomade Vendor guy in the movie , O Brother, Where Art Thou?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0190590/

the credits say the actor is Millford Fortenberry , but if you watch the scene with the pomade vendor and then Richard Harrison in Pawn Stars , they sound the same and look very similar

Really? Ugh, I hate it. I mean the show itself isn't terrible really, but I'd much rather watch "Modern Marvels" or "How the Earth Was Made" or something like that on History Channel, not a reality show.

I've never watched one reality show in it's entirety but I've seen every episode of this. They tell the history of all the items they show which is really cool and one of the main reasons why I watch it. Plus Chum Lee is pretty funny.

It's a surprisingly good show actually. I don't like most reality TV but I have to say, so far this is better than I would have thought given the topic and people. Thing is the people involved in it look like, but are not actually at all the type of stereotypical redneck type you might think would own a pawn shop. They know their stuff when it comes to antiques, art, and history. Well at least the father and grandfather do. The father looks a lot like my former boss too.

Remember that one guy who brought in the ship chronograph and sold it for, I think $500. He was told it'd take a repairman and he has no idea how much that'll be, how much it'll sell and stuff since it appears to be not working.

The repairman comes in, takes a small piece of cardboard out of one of the mechanics and told them it was inserted because this very accurate machine had to be transported without anything being messed up. The thing was actually in great working condition and the shop made bank at thousands of dollars now.

The one thing i love about this show is the greed of the people who bring items in.

I was watching one of the episodes the other day.. and some dude brought in some junk his grandpa had in the attic.. the "pre-interview" said he wanted something like 200-300 bucks for the item. He brings it in... they cant tell if its worth anything.. so they bring in a specialist. The specialist says its rare and worth $15,000... now all of a sudden the guy is like... i want $10,000 for it.. no less.

wtf?

you wanted $200 bucks, now you want $10,000... and they're offering you $8,000 and you wont take it?

Sheesh. you got lucky.. take the $8,000 and be happy.

Yup... annoys me when the younger son, "Big Hoss" makes some stupid deal for something that doesn't look like it would make money... and then turns around and makes bank.

He bough a non-working motorcycle on one of the episodes for $3500 ... was told it would take like $30k to repair.. or they could auction it. Ended up going to auction and sold for $7500.. part of me wanted it to go for $2000 so that the kid would get his ass reamed for buying crap.

I like it.

The 2 young fat kids are hilarious.

I hate the main guy's laugh, and I'm pretty sure it gets edited in a lot. The oldest guy's monotone voice really grates on my nerves.

Watched all the episodes. Very entertaining. Think Season 2 is over now...? DVR can't find any new eps coming up.

Couple of those guys need to go on The Biggest Loser. Like super obese.

Rick (bald guy?) laughs at everything - Funny laugh too. Pretty smart guy, even though he has to call his "friend of mine"s for help most of the time

That sunken treasure that guy brought in to the shop was pretty awesome...he wanted to pawn it for $700,000 though? Ha.

I think Rick said it best on one of the episodes.

You don't get to be in business as a Pawn Shop owner without knowing who to call to find out if something is real, or how much it's worth.

The "friends" are nothing more than appraisers and antique experts. Nothing wrong with calling them to find out if something is legit or fake... and how much it's worth.

I wonder if they still have that hot air balloon he got.

But that motorcycle was a special one and thus why he got it but hearing how hard it would had been to find parts was great.

Yea seriously

They can't know EVERYTHING in the world but they know a lot. Knowing all those people who are experts in their fields is one of those things that I'm sure keeps them from making a lot of bad decisions.

the middle generation guy seems pretty damned intelligent and knowledgeable. the son's probably not an idiot but comes off like it.

yup... and i'm sure these "friends" are getting some sort of consulting fee for coming on the show and giving their expert opinion.

garbage

another staged "reality" show

antiques roadshow is also completely staged. in fact, pretty much all reality shows include copious amounts of direction and direct staging of scenes.

would you prefer shows like jersey shore where it's just random snippets directly from the lives of retarded people?

Chumlee (sp?) FTW. Although, the episode where he made the wine by crushing the grapes with his bare feet made me want to puke.

oh, and i'll tell you what, this pickers show isn't half bad, either. nothing spectacular, but better than most reality TV (not saying much). the skinny guy is growing on me, i guess, fuck he was annoying at first.
