What I don't understand is how can a person who has handled or has the opportunity to handle large amounts of money doesn't understand why Payday loans are a scam? Why they're generally in poor neighborhoods and why the news loves to blast these companies for putting poor people into a situation they can't get out of?

Payday loans=Scam, period. If you have a credit card and you're stretched thin, use a cash advance, however you really shouldn't be using a cash advance to bridge yourself between paychecks, in fact you shouldn't be using anything at all. If you don't have the money, don't spend additional money just to makeup for the fact that you don't have money.

Don't worry Techboy, if the Payday loans thing doesn't work out there is always the pawn shop.

I hear there is a show on those on the Shitty Career Choices channel.. err I mean Discovery.

I honestly never even considered one or thought about it until now and never paid them any attention. That's why I said, if I'm going to pay more than $20 for the loan, then there's no way I would do it. Obviously that's not the case, so there's no way I'll be getting a loan from one of those places. I don't desperately need the money. But it was worth $20 to have it now, which is why I asked.

Thanks for the enlightment guys, not going to be using one of those places.

It's not that I have a shitty career. But the economy did have an effect on it. I get paid well, it's just that I'm fucking spending all my money right now on a startup company, and I only get paid once per month. I blew through my monthly pay way to quick this month, as I had to move, etc. No excuses really.

This reminds me of a guy I met once 20+ years ago who was in the Army. He always hung around us and his stories of making people lots of money in the stock market by shrewdly investing in the right companies at the right time (like Coke, IBM, Citibank, etc). He said he turned out to pay off his parents house, buy his own place and travel around the world before he turned 20. But he gave his house away to his sister and joined the Army for the fitness and adventure.

It was always the same line of bullshit and we finally caught the little fucker lying through his fucking teeth and caught his ass red handed stealing something. Even though he was seen doing it, he denied it. What a lowlife.

But people use stories like that because its part of their aura to lie and make people think how magical and mysterious they are, when in fact they are just a lying sack of shit.

ps. Yes, I know there are people that do make it in this country and in fact we ALL have our individual success stories to some degree or other. But most normal people dont go around tooting their horn to anyone who will listen with perfect lines of practiced bullshit and get super defensive and butthurt when someone doesnt believe us. Im not saying thats techboyjk, but it sure brings back memories.

I don't understand the appeal of making up bullshit on an internet forum. It's like winning the Special Olympics....

I had a friend who was a one-upper. No matter what I did, he had a story that upped over what I did. I had a bengal cat for a while, he was a large cat, near 20lbs. So my buddy said he had an 80lb cat. I told him there is no way he had an 80lb cat. So, whenever I came over the cat was out or with someone. Eventually I told him I want to see the cat, and he told me it got out and the coyotes got him. Odd how his 80lb cat never surfaced..

ROFL. I never understood the "one-upper" mentality. Chronic lying isnt cool.
