Paypal issues

I am in a very bad situation right now and do not have the money to refund the seller (which is the last thing I wanna do in this situation anyways)

Background: Router sold on ebay for $55, shipping was $40. Payment took about 7 days to be sent to me and I sent the package out 4 days later. He was a very impatient person for taking 7 days to send a payment to me and wouldn't stop bugging me about it. Package was sent 7-10 day USPS mail and still has not arrived (sent on Feb 31st)

I have no proof of it being sent right now as I thought he received it because I haven't heard from him in over 2 weeks so I figured he finally got it.

I know I should've kept it, but I had it laying around in my car and decided to clean up not even thinking of what I was throwing away.

I need some opinions on what to do. I've called paypal and it's a lose lose situation

2 options left

Refund seller and show proof
or
Provide tracking information

HELP! I do not have the money to be out $175+

I never have shipped out a package international before and the USPS website was quoting me $35 so I went by that number. I overestimated the weight a little bit

$40 for usps 7~10 day ground shipping?

edit: in the post above you mentioned it is international, this could delay it by several weeks with customs and whatnot

the shipping is the irrelevant part. I overestimated and he paid it. I was clueless to the pricing of it and I did have to buy a BROWN box and packaging tape. I had a box all ready to go to be sent out USPS priority mail because that's how it was sent to me

For something that valuable I wouldn't even offer to overseas buyers on ebay. It's not worth the hassle.

I sent something to Canada once. It had been 3 weeks and the buyer still had not gotten it. He ended up opening a claim with Paypal. Luckly for me it showed up 5 days later. So in total it took 3 weeks and 5 days. I sent it USPS Air mail too. :roll:

that's what I'm thinking. He could be using the router right now for all I know. 10 days starting today until the refund will have to be given or tracking

BTW, how did you send something on Feb 31? Feb only has 28 days.

If you can afford the loss, do not track/insure the item.

However, if it is going international, it may be delayed through customs.

Check if USPS can look up the tracking number somehow based on your payment. If it was through a CC, it's likely they might be able to recover it for you.

Btw - in the future, get the tracking number and send it to yourself as an email or whatever it takes to keep a copy of it where it can't be lost as easily as a piece of paper.

If it was sent internationally, you can actually use the number on the customs form to track it.

I ordered some granite stones from Canada. Just granite. Took 3 weeks to get here and it came by truck!

I'm out $80 (what I bought the router for) + his money

hopefully it does come, I'm gonna talk to the post office and see if they can pull up something. Luckily it was paid with by CC
