PayPal Question...

I'll try to make a long story short, but here is what happened.

I sold a digital camera to one of my customers on eBay and he payed me for an auction via PayPal. Everything looked perfect and several days later I shipped the camera to him, to confirmed address via USPS with insurance. One month goes buy, everything nice and well. But in the middle of the second month PayPal sends me an email stating that that customer paid with the stolen credit card and they asked me to fax them the copy of driver license, my bank statement and my utility bill, as well as proof of shipment. I have done that, but they say it isn't enough (???) and shipping USPS doesn't allow them to track the package. At this point they lock my account and I can't send or receive money anymore. Several days later they lock my dad's account, just because he has the same last name and lives in the same city.

Obviously they have seller protection, and I followed it. But do they have the right of not following that policy themselves and locking every possible account they can think of? What should I do at this point? I'm really ready to file a case in small claims court against them, but what are the chances of me winning it? Will it be cheaper than $580, since that's what apparently I owe them?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi andrey,

I actually don't see a reason why your account would be placed on limited access because of a charge back. Please feel free to send me your account email address.

As an aside, our Seller Protection Policy for charge backs would require online tracking. An insurance receipt would not suffice in a circumstance like this.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. For anything over $100 only accept Money order or bidpay.

An USPS insurance receipt will indicate that the item was delivered to the address and when. If it does not, then the USPS would be on the hook for the insured item.

Yeah...bidpay's just like a money order. I actually prefer to use bidpay, as i don't have to get my lazy ass off the chair to send the money
