Thanks for the heads up. I usually delete emails from paypal anyhow. Nonetheless, this tidbit of information was worth knowing. Thanks, I'll let my friends know.

I think the best point made was that when using paypal, don't use a link . . . use a bookmark on your browser or go directly there by yes . . . typing in the address!

One good thing is that PayPal doesn't actually list your credit card number or bank account info. Just change your password, make sure that your e-mail address and home address is correct and you should be fine.

But I was worried for a little while there

ouch..you did?? Use common sense and call your credit card bank to check for any authrorized charged and immediately report the card stolen for a new number. It's the most prudent thing to do.

anyone remember that other PayPal scam where someone registered paypai.com, sent you email along the same lines as this one but the link in the email had the 'i' capitalised so it looked legitimate.

Not only does Paypal suck but people are now using it for scams. Pathetic. So you can either be scammed by them or scammed by some con artists like paypai/paypal-secure/paynotyourpal

i am using AOL (for only a little while longer thank god) at home and i have gotten emails there to go to a web site using www.aoi.com except capitalizing the 'i' to make it look legit. reported that to what ever service the page was using (it was a while ago..i think geocities) and they took the page down in about 4 hours. i'm glad i got that email though, cause now i look out at EVERY page i enter anything into.

To make sure the PayPal site is authentic make sure the URL is https://paypal, not http://paypal...that's what they told me when I joined up. That extra s after http means "secure".
Do I have that right???

Yeah, but ANYBODY can setup a site with https://
To be safe you should ensure that the site is coming from https://www.paypal.com/...
