and how you do that is not depend on others to keep you safe. but you can help educate them on stuff.

I'd say you do both.

i am an asthmatic with allergies to a lot of things.

i demand we ban smoking, cutting grass, pollen, and dust.

THE WORLD MUST CHANGE TO MEET MY SPECIAL NEEDS!

Do you go into anaphylactic shock or do you get a bit sniffley?

These kids will never have completely normal lives, it's just an unfortunate reality that comes with their condition. Knowing how kids can treat each other, I don't think being "that" kid that got all PB&J sandwiches banned will help him or her feel normal.

And where do we stop with this? Do we ban physical education because one kid has a broken leg and can't participate? If none of the kids can participate, it'll minimize the risks for him and make him feel more normal, right?

Probably better than feeling like the kid thats dead/has brain damage.

And that last point is nowhere near the same.

The all natural stuff has: No added salt (so basically no sodium), no added sugar, and no transfats. The 2.5 grams of saturated fats in 2 TBsp is burned off so fast it doesn't make it to the arteries.

Peanut oil is one of the most atherogenic oils we have - so much so that it is still used today in research studies for cardiovascular diseases. That 2.5g is still making it into your system.

Please make sure they do not grow up to be like a lot of vegetarians out there (not all, just a lot of them) that feel they are above everyone else and try shoving down the throat of non-vege people that "eating meat makes you a horrible animal killing person"

She's vegetarian completely by her own choice, and, unfortunately because she has an affinity for animals. That said, she has ALWAYS loved vegetables since she was a baby anyway. She will still make an exception for mom's meatloaf and an occasional cheeseburger.

Ironically, our almost-two year old, the only meat we can get her to eat is breakfast sausage.

I would voluntarily abstain from bringing nuts into the workplace if I knew someone had a serious allergy to them. If I was told that I had to do it, I would throw a shit fit.

Why?

And I dont think that it needs to be banned in the workplace just schools where there are students with those allergies.

I'm not ok with it being banned, it's a completely different scenario.

In one situation you dont bring it into the work place, in the other you...dont bring it into the workplace.

Not seeing the completed different scenario there, sorry.

Your lack of critical thinking skills will not be fixed by me posting further.

OK I suggest you ask your fellow employees not to bring large bags of pollen into work then.

Has that ever been a problem at your work?

actually. cologne, perfume and heavy makeup can set off an asthma attack.

even some air fragrant things will too.

Yeah they can, and if you work in an office with someone with severe asthma if would only be courteous no cut back on the pancake and perfume.

OK so ask them not to wear any, request a move to a different office, find a compromise. Thats what adults do.

Dont try to equate it to kids at school though.

But kids didn't make the comprimise. The adults made it for them.

So it is VERY comparable.

And what was that? did you just come up with other possible solutions beyond banning XXXXXX product?

ahh but it is the same.

seems you can figure it out but are blinded by the ages. I can tell you from experience kids are smarter and more responsible then you think. I brought up my 5th graders class for a reason. they understand the risk and take precautions. They do it right. education and responsibility. the kid with the allergy's and those without.

What so you're happy to do something unless someone asks you to, then you throw a shit fit?

Thats a bit...childish isnt it?

Telling someone what to do is treating a person like a child. Giving a person a choice and letting them choose to do the right thing is being an adult.

There is a difference between kids and adults that you both seem to be missing.

Adults are responsible for themselves, kids aren't.

As much as you think your kids are clever/mature/educated they aren't responsible for their safety at school, the school is responsible for their safety.

I take it that you are self employed with no customers and live on your own island then?

This story again? Is this really new anymore?

This shit was going on when I was in grade school, and that was at least 15 years ago. Kids with PB&J got shit for it, and I remember bringing PB&J to school maybe a few times throughout all my years in school - each time I tried my best to hide it.

I'll leave the "right or wrong" to the rest of you.

Speaking of, I remember in grade school one prick bully took a chunk of tuna that fell out of my sandwich and smeared it on the face of a vegetarian. That did not go over well.

a) it's horse shit that schools are so incompetent at general food safety that they have to make the parents change their children's diet. For example, allowing kids to eat lunches in the classroom (which is now common) is a moronic decision. Letting schools get away with blaming parents because they can't properly monitor and take care of kids is utterly ridiculous. If a day care had issues like this their license would get revoked from all of the violations of basic hygiene and food safety.

b) I would be utterly shocked if there were ever a confirmed case of a child dying due to airborne peanut dust. I believe the dangers of opening a bag of peanuts are greatly exaggerated and everything I have read confirms this. The risk of peanut butter and peanuts is NOT due to smells or the like, it is due to the potential for accidental ingestion

c) I was severely allergic to peanuts as a kid and had severe asthma. It was absolutely WAY more dangerous to have asthma. I had to go to the hospital often due to it just from seasonal allergies and colds. It was not that hard to avoid peanuts.

d) Since we live in reality and not a world where schools are competent with food safety, I think it is reasonable to ban peanuts from school since we aren't going to change horse shit in A. Kids who want an exception should be required to eat in isolation and wash thoroughly. Yeah, it's totally backwards and stupid, but since schools are so shitty at food safety it's the best we can do.
