ok... before i start my entry of this thread i'd like to say that i'm going to follow this outline for it only because not only does it help you (my help) but it also helps me understand wut i'm doing a little clearer and a lot faster.

PLEASE when POST threads asking for input on system builds tell us...

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

8. WHEN do you plan to build it?

The above information IS NEEDED, in order that WE can help YOU make wise judgments on YOUR purchases

#1 My new build is going to be for minimal tasks... mainly for going over someone's house for a time period of less then a month where i'd still like to have access to my own system and w/e so that i don't mess their's up

#2 The price range of the computer at this stage isn't the biggest of deals... I have pretty much everything i need except for a few flashy showy things that i would like to have

#3 Once again all the parts i need are pretty much gathered at home already

#4 my preference for brands are pretty much Intel for proc.. ATI for video (altho the motherboard i have has nvidea built in)... and WD for HDD... i have not had a problem with western digital yet and don't foresee anything coming as of yet.

#5 by far my favorite part of this questionare yet... the parts i plan on using are as follows:
Mobo: Asus P5VD2-VM SE
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (from current computer, updating main computer to E8400)
HDD: Western Digital Scorpio 2.5" 120GB
RAM: CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory
Case: the Xbox 360 Shell
Extra: the RF Module from the original guts of my old Xbox 360

#6 I have looked all over for the answers i am trying to find and so far only about 2/3 of them have been found

#7 overclocking as of right now is not what i have in mind but it might come up in the future for showy purposes

#8 i was planning on building this computer this upcomming weekend (5/10/08) whether i have all the information or not... the main information i'm lookin for is now only for flashy showy... if i don't obtain it before building then too bad.... if i do... great

so.... after i laid all of this down for whoever decides to read.... i would like to put my question of the information of which i wish to obtain into text. ( <-- if that made any sence to anyone... kudos to u.... if not... here's my actual question)

If you didn't read my ideas from above then here's a bit of information i aquired plus the question i'm dieing for an answer to.

I have been comming up with ideas for my new computer build within my old Xbox 360 case. I have everything i NEED... altho i came up with an amazing idea... if Microsoft has a Wireless receiver for the Xbox 360 wireless controllers to connect to windows ( or pc in general)... then why can't i take the RF Module from the old 360 and use it on my new build? Especially since i'm already planning on using the module for the power button anyway

So, I started doing a bit of digging around thinking that it shouldn't be much different from usb and found the pinout for the modules connector. and the pinout is as follows:

1 - 3.3v
2 - usb-
3 - usb +
4 - Ground
5 - power on/off switch / goes to Southbridge 21E (directly from document of pinouts)
6 - Serial Data
7 - Serial CLK
8 - Ground
9 - Goes to pin 16 of J1A1 (extra pin on the back USB port) but is not connected to anything on the RF module. (directly from document of pinouts)

so... here's where i start to question how much like a usb port this is. I understand each of those pins... except for pins 6 & 7 (Serial Data & CLK). Are these 2 pins imperative to the operations of the device? And, could it operate w/o the 2 pins?

After seing these pins' labels, i did a bit of thinking and went looking around once more. but still didn't find specifics. but.. i did stumble across the fact that microsoft, along with some other companies, are experimenting with, wut the have dubbed, Wireless USB (or WUSB for short). And i remember reading somewhere that the xbox 360's controllers and wireless accessories are this WUSB. so i went searching around and couldn't find any pinouts for WUSB receiver pinouts.

So, after all of this research, to be hitting a roadblock this far it's kind of disappointing. I would really love to have this adapter hooked up to my computer so i don't have to buy that wireless receiver again and put it inside the case... i'd really like to use wut i have. are there any other suggestions anyone can give me?

Thank You all, in advance, for any help you might be able to lend me. I'm really excited for this project and would love to have all my ideas go into this.

thanks much,
-chunkeydelight

P.S. - After I build this computer (with the information I'd like or not) I plan on posting a tutorial somewhere on the internet. If you're interested, keep your eyes open.
