Heads up to fans of the genre: amazon is selling Icewind Dale: The Collection for $30. In stock 8.26.03. Tempted, but looks like a huge timesuck. Strategy guides are supposed to help those of us who haven't been around a +3 anything for years. Any comments as to value of this?

boss was pretty easy... but yah without magic it would be impossible... to deal with all the cronies i cast summons (elemental princes, devas, planatar) and simacrulum (vhailor's helm, spell w/ imoen and aerie), then jaheira goes elemental transform... i have about 3 greater whirlwinds per fighter (my main is fighter/cleric, minsc, and the stalker guy)... i give minsc lilacor +5 (you gotta install the items upgrade mod), then give stalker celestial fury +5 (also mod, up from the +3, but that stun on it rules) and hindo's doom +3... my lead guy had a +5 tower shield you get in Throne of Bhaal, plus +5 flail of ages, and symbol of lathander...

that game ruled... kinda sad now that i'm done w/ it

oh ya, the spells comet and dragon's breath rule (espec. w/ the Robes of Vecna)

unless you are talking about boss of Shadows of Amn, which i beat without "casting" a single spell... all i did was use a scroll of haste & two wands of spell striking to get the dude's defences down and then whirlwinded him up, he went down like a brick of soft cheese being sliced by a chainsaw

I picked one up today but didn't have a "gamer's gift card". I asked a store clerk about the GC, he was trying to be helpful, but he had no idea what I was talking about.

If the game is as good as everyone here and on FW say it is, it will be worth the $20.

I just received my order and stuff appears to be missing from the game. The box only had 6 cd's (shadows of amn disks 1-4, shadoes of amn bonus disk, and throne of bhaal final chapter). There were no manuals, maps or registration cards. Is this what everyone else received? The game appeared to be sealed.

Thats all, everything is on the 6 CDs.


BTW did you use the coupon in the gamer's gift card? Because I finally found them in my store and they work great ever on sale items.
