I have a PCChips M810LR V7.1A MB. It runs Fine, although it's Very "Picky".
It will only accept Certain AGP Video Cards, & MUST have an AMD "Minimum" Amps' Approved PSU to run the AGP Card.

Here is a Link to a PCChips Forum setup & operated by 'End-users" to Help with all PCChips & Related Motherboards.

http://www.stud.fernuni-hagen.de/q3998142-bin/cgi-bin/ibrd/ikonboard.cgi

I've been to that Forum alot to receive help w/ my "Chips" MB.

Hope that Forum Helps.

The M810 suffers from the SiS 730S chipset's very fragile AGP timing. Early revisions of that chip had completely non-working AGP (and the boards didn't have the slot at all), later ones were better, but never really good.

And what's wrong with having a PSU that fulfills the required minimum specification?

Sorry, my 'Writing' wasn't exactly clear. I did say that the AMD Amperage Minimums have to be met, it apparently just didn't "come-out" that way.

On the PCChips Lottery Forum (The Link), they all Strongly Advised that I invest in a High-Quality PSU (meeting the AMD Amp. Minimums) if I planned on installing an AGP Card onto my "M810" MB.

Lots of Info on PCChips at that Forum, a must see for PCChips Owners.

I know, I've been contributing a lot there in the past. That was before it was shifting into way too much overclocking craze and know-it-all pissing matches to be enjoyable for me anymore.

Did ya know that the systems HSN (Home Shopping Network) are selling use ECS barebones? In fact they may build the whole thing AFAIK (their CA warehouse also builds systems according to those "ECS Editor's Day" articles - who for?). Those systems have handles on the top and often have TV tuner cards. The case is cheap enough that the power button often breaks - as in the plastic button itself crumples in.

That's not the fault of the mainboards though.

In fact, in such an OEM deal, the systems, and even the mainboards, are often custom built to the specification of the customer. So if HSN wants to sell crap plastic, you can be sure they get their OEM partner to build the systems like that.

On the other hand, did you know that renowned server makers SuperMicro are also part of the ECS/PC-Chips group?

I have a PCChips with a P4 2.4Ghz in one of my computers and it runs fine, although I'm not an overclocker or anything so that could make it unstable.

That's the deal with those no-nonsense mainboards. They're built to work stable at stock speeds, minimizing the engineering overkill to reduce cost. You won't even find the toolset you'd need for overclocking - tweakable clock generators, adjustable voltages, all that requires extra hardware and thus costs extra money. The one thing to remember is that the vast majority of all computer purchasers aren't ever going to upgrade their machine, let alone think about overclocking it. Joe Average wants a computer that works, end.

Um wow, listen, if these boards were that bad, they wouldn't have passed the product revision in the first place. Do you all think they don't test these? I've traded a gigabyte mobo that cost me 150 with a pcchips one that cost me 28 bucks. The difference? Sry, there was none. The gigabyte was actually worse, random reboots, no vcore adjustment, but no problems with the PCchips. Just because AMD has 25% marketshare, or ATi has like 30, it doesn't mean they make inferior hardware...although some sad cases out there think they do. Same story. Just don't buy this if you aren't familiar with pc's, because as others have said, documentation is scarce.

I said the case was crappy, nothing about the motherboard. In fact, they are from the normal ECS lineup. Yes, I've seen brand name systems like HP and Compaq with "special OEM only" boards from Asus and MSI.
