Need to find another game to play with my friend. Before you mention the usual suspects. We already played the hell out of Borderlands and exhausted that to the max. Played 10 times more Diablo 2 before that (starting back when it first came out), not really interested in playing any diablo clones either. Played all the L4D1 and 2 campaigns. Alien Swarm was fun for about 10 minutes. Played all the serious sams. My friend doesn't like RTS games either.

So whatchya got?

Dungeon Siege 2 is a fun D2-like experience, though I feel like with multiple player controlled characters it could be really easy. Has a lot to explore and a a fair bit of sidequesting.

Shank is an excellent sidescrolling beatemup that (I'm pretty sure) has a co-op, short though.

Also fun are old arcadey DnD sidescrollers if you've got MAME. Shadow of Mystara comes to mind, or top down shooters also.

Rainbow 6: Vegas 1 and 2
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series
Conflict: Global Terror
Mercenaries 2 (but you have to set up a fake server as the EA servers are no longer available to play on).
MW2 Spec Ops missions

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
Hawx / Hawx 2
Saints Row 2
The Scourge Project
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Trine

That is all I can come up with that is not Diablo clones, or RTS games.

Yes, trine has co-op. Though it is local co-op. You need at least a controller for one player. You can play up to three players if you have 2 controllers and a keyboard/mouse or 3 controllers (xbox360 controllers are the only ones I know work straight up).

a friend and i tried to play Conviction but my FPS dropped to like 5 FPS when playing MP. In SP it played perfectly with good FPS.

Trine 2, which I think will be released some time this year, is supposed to have co-op over network as well. Not just local co-op.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 indeed... costs like $10 on Steam and you can jump back/forth between co-op and SP through the campaign mode seamlessly. Also Terrorist Hunt mode where it's you and friend against a level full of enemies.

I greatly enjoyed Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising co-op with my brother.

It's the closest thing to the old, REAL Ghost Recon games in terms of realism and open-ended play style.

It has some quirks, and sometimes the AI isn't the best (but that's why it works well with another person), but it sure has its moments.

If you like "realistic" battlefield sims and coordinating attacks, etc, it's very fun. And now, it should be dirt cheap.

My friends and I are playing Titan Quest Immortal Throne again... it is a blast with 4 players. And the graphics have held up amazingly well for a game that came out in 2006/2007... I was pleasantly surprised. It runs a lot smoother on modern systems, no surprise there. I remember there being graphic slowdowns on my original AMD 3700 // ATI x1800xt system back in the day.

Anyway, great coop fun and it was painless to get everyone into a game (no port forwarding issues, no random crashes, no trouble with the game browser, etc). This is true with both the steam version and original CD versions, all patched to 1.30 for Titan Quest and 1.10 or 1.11 for Immortal Throne.

Also, I was surprised to see so many internet games available. At least 50 - 60 different games up, but most of them passworded. I assume they're playing with friends, as is the case with my "server" or game.
