Now that my GPU came in, I have had nothing but terrible problems. When I initially started the computer with all the components, the computer would just freeze. It wouldn't crash, just froze. I reimaged probably 10 times with Win 11 and the same thing every time. I Reimaged with Win 10, now instead of freezing it would crash and reboot immediately after logging in and sometimes would take me to the boot error screen. Someone suggested I remove the GPU and all but one ram card and boot up and verify the card then swap with another to validate the ram card's functionality. Everything worked with the GPU removed, all 4 cards installed, and using the integrated graphics of the CPU everything works beautifully. I have updated everything fully. Windows 11, all motherboard drivers, and the newest BIOS version. The moment I went and installed the GPU again and powered up, it took 5 times longer just to get to the login screen. but everything seemed to work for all of 5 minutes until I tried installing the GeForce experience GPU updates. then it would freeze again. After a few power cycles of trying to install the driver updates it would freeze at the exact same place. now even without trying to update (which was never completed), it freezes seconds after logging in and the blue screens with a Windows stop code of WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.....I have no idea what to do now.

Side note the built-in Intel Killer wi-fi 6E AX1690i adapter does not work and didn't work on the previous motherboard that I replaced either. I have tried installing updating and uninstalling the drivers for it to no avail.

This is a brand new build that I had help with from users in a different thread. but now this is happening.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS Master
GPU: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 24GB GDRR6X (not installed yet)
CPU: Intel i9 13900k 13 Gen
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken 120
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 GT, 80 plus Gold 1000W
RAM: G.skill Trident Z5 RGB DDR5 6400 16gig (×4)
Storage: SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen4 M.2 2280 (×2)
Case: Mycherrytree Borg Cube Full ATX( has 2 other 120 mm off-brand fans)

Someone suggested I undervolt my GPU but i can't do it through BIOS and can't get to the MSI afterburn app before the computer crashes. This would be in an effort to see if the PSU is simply not providing enough juice.

The only suggestion I can think of is to change the PCIe from Auto to Gen3. Also make sure the motherboard has the latest BIOS.

Here's what I would do.

Pull the GPU
Run ddu to remove the drivers
Install the latest driver
Install the GPU
Cross your fingers

There companies that like to massively invade to your Win system.

NVidia is one of them. So at times it ends up that Active good Firewalls blocks some of the activities when trying to install New hardware software. In addition the specific Vendor of the card might add some their own Junk to the nVidia Drivers.

As a result Win through Microsoft Drivers Lib. Installed basic driver. So… its end up that you have basic screen but real McCoy of the expensive GPU does not work.

Sometime of few hours it will resolve itself. Otherwise log to nVidia service down load the software for your hardware and try to install it.

Well, I have let it sit for about a week lmao. new GPU came in did the DDU and installed basic driver and it still does it.

Then it's probably the mobo causing the issue unless it's woefully under powered.
I know it's possible but... 2 motherboards with the exact identical issue? I won't dismiss the possibility, but I have a gut feeling that it's something else entirely. I am at my wit's end honestly. Contemplating returning everything and buying a pre-built, and to hell with all the hassle.

2 motherboards
Then I would boot to Linux using a USB and see if it works. If it does then the issue would be the OS. Easier to deal with the OS than pull it apart again, It's usually 1 of 3 things... mobo/power/os. new MOBO / 1KW PSU - leaves OS. If the USB boot doesn't prove the OS then it's back to the MOBO though. GB / Asus aren't on my list of OEMs to use for a reason. If things work in Linux then you'll have to whack-a-mole some more gremlins to figure it out.

Not a bad idea, any distribution of Linux you recommend?

I had a similar issue installing a 3080, it ended up a power supply issue for me.

Did you try reinstalling your old video card to see if you had the same issue? What was the power consumption with the old card?

Do you know someone with a rig that has a 40 series card that runs normally? Get them to test your 4090 and see if it is a bad card so you can return or RMA.

Try a different power supply. The total projected power for your system is around 900 watts. You could try a different 1000 watt or 1200 watt to see if it is a power issue.

My assumptions are you are using the cables that came with you power supply and no third party cables. You can look at the power cables to verify they all seated correctly and there isn't a bad connection. I assume both of the 8-pin CPU power plugs at the top of the motherboard were used as well.

Decades ago I had an issue with a giga board using discrete graphics. I had to disable onboard graphics in the bios to get the GPU to work properly. Though this is probably not the issue, shouldn't hurt to try it.

You could also try updating the GPU's bios via MSI center before trying to install nvidia's GeForce Experience.

Sure sounds like a power supply issue to me. One time...sure, could be motherboard or GPU...BUT, if the OP has replaced the motherboard and GPU and the problem still exists...
