Crysis, hands down.
because of it's boring game play and suber uber amazing and utterly gimmicky bio-suit?
Oh wait it's because of it's DX10 graphics that run at 10fps.
My pc does not seem to be having the same problems as yours.
I am running:
E6600
8800GTX
4gb Patriot Performance Ram
Vista Ultimate
And my fps stayed pretty decent through the whole game. I played at 1680x1050 with 2xaa all set to very high except post processing which I kept at medium.
The game ran pretty darn smooth. One thing I did notice
*SPOILERS PAST THIS PART (POSSIBLY)*
If you ever get a lot of slow down just quit the game and re enter. I tended to after a few levels/big set changes, I think there may be a problem getting things out of the cache or something. But, the final boss ran poorly at first but when I quit and reentered it ran very smoothly. But that is the only spot I had performance issues.
Now here is why I think Crysis is my game of the year.
First off was the outstanding level design. I loved looking at the huge bases I had to assault and knowing that this game would be nigh impossible if it were not for the nano suit. I would sneak in, jump to the rooftop and take over a gun, or have a giant stakeout in a main building, the possibilities were endless.
The cut scenes were fantastic, gorgeous and engrossing, bringing you directly into the story, and the missions had a great feel of continuity.
My jaw dropped on multiple occasions the first being when you first sneak in to rescue the female archaeologist, the whole dig site just looked so real, and the preceding assault of it was just amazing.
The second time my jaw dropped was ween you escape in a jeep right after that scene, as you exit the dig site you drive through little rice paddy's, your vehicle kicking up dirt, there is tons of tracer fire in the arm, you are swarmed by helicopters and Koreans, its just an incredibly tense level.
My favorite part had to be right after you escape the alien ship, and you escape with prophet, after the hunter chases you, you go up in a VTOL. Well, your driver gets shot, and I thought that the plane was going to crash and we would simply get more jungle missions, instead you pilot the vtol as you attempt to escape the island. You dodge tornadoes, alien ships, and fly in formation with jets as people are rescued. The pure scale and scope of the level is amazing.
In terms of graphics, one of the most visually amazing levels is on board the warship before the hunter attacks, as you just walk around. The character models were excellent they looked so real and full of life. The level was incredibly smooth as well (I suppose due to being indoors) but I was just amazed.
All in all I believe its a wonderful game, if its not 100% smooth then lower your settings, don't blame the game just because your angry about your hardware (not that I am saying your hardware is inefficient for the job, Crysis is just incredibly demanding) if you do so you are missing out on a purely outstanding game.
