The time came for my computer to be upgraded for about $1000 rather I'm on the edge of spending half of that money on xbox 360 for gaming. I've been true computer game addict. I always liked keyboard+ mouse combination for FPS's like Counter Strike and Battlefield 2. My best friends all have xbox 360's. They don't game on their pc, like i do. Recently, my friends been trying to talk me into buying a Xbox 360, because it's cheaper and more fun than computer. I think it's kinda huge step for me going to controller style gaming. The thing is that I want to play new computer games also, which would require computer upgrade anyway. My current computer system is: P4 2.93 GHZ, 1.5GB of RAM, X800Xl video card. I understand my entire system needs to be upgraded in order to run better video card like 8800GT or whatever that one is.. So I don't know, give me some reasons why to get a 360, or stick with Pc gaming and upgrade my pc for latest games.

If all your best friends have 360's and are pushing you to get it isn't enough for you to warrant a purchase, then there isn't much we can offer.

Well I said to them, that pc gaming is better. And it doesn't really matter if I play with my friends or people I don't know on the computer.

If that didn't matter, then why mention it?

And I don't want to be a jerk or something, but if you're looking for a PC vs. Console debate, then there are plenty of old threads to read through.

I left PC gaming and got a 360 in september. I have to say, I made the right choice. There are tons of games already out for the 360 that I wanted (and probably you too) and lots more coming. PC gaming was just getting a bit stale for me and I was sick of hardware upgrades and such. The online stuff works really well and I love the ability to download demos through the console. I'd say getting a 360 would be a great investment. The only games coming out just for the PC that I'm really interested in are Crysis and Spore (that's coming to wii too now).

The social network is exactly why I have a 360 and my friends do as well. I know people personally, we play together, its a lot more fun than dealing with some 10 year old teabagging me. At least with my friends, next time I see them I can punch them.

Why should we give you reasons? If you want to get one, then get one. Go to your friends houses and sit down and play some of their games with them - Halo 3, Gears, Bioshock, whatever game they're playing and make a judgement call for yourself. It's really just lame when you need to be convinced to do something. In the end it's your money...if you're going to buy a 360 solely because someone gives you a reason of "OMG ITZ THE PWNZERZ", then all I have to say is wow.

Seriously, go to your friends houses one weekend and play it, or ask to borrow one of theirs.

I also switched from pc to xbox right after the price drop in August. I am getting older and I just don't feel like sitting behind a computer desk at work then also at home for fun.

I still occasionally play something on the pc. To each his own.

That what I was looking for.

Well I don't want to make a wrong choice by getting a xbox 360. I played halo 3 at my friends house, and I liked it, but it could get monotonous I think after while

You can easily upgrade your PC for less than a $1000. Wait a couple weeks and the 8800gt will go down to $250. Upgrade than CPU and get a new mobo for another $300, along with some standard 2gb memory, and your total comes to about $600. You'll be able to play all the latest games at a 1280x1024 with most settings at high.

You seem more comfortable with being a PC gamer, in which case I would just say stick with what you have. There is no reason to get rid of one for the other. I play both PC and console games alternatively because I enjoy games on both.

Just so you know, I don't even have Halo 3 and I'm having fun. Crackdown is great, as is guitar hero 3, the orange box, and Fight Night Round 3.

I got my Elite back in April and immediately started plowing through the back catalog of $20-30 games. If one were to start right now, there is one heck of a selection of budget titles to keep you busy while the $60 games have price drops.

Your BEST friends gave you reasons and that was not enough. Why should we care and give you reasons since you clearly disregard it from your close friends? If your best friends can't help you then surely we can't, and won't.

I have been a PC gamer since they made computers games. I also am a console gamer since they first console. I prefer the PC ALWAYS but with the new gen systems its becoming harder to stay completely faithful to the PC because console get it first and PCs get the port overs. Used to be the otherway around. Anyway, lately I have been trying my hardest to play FPSs on my 360 but being a hardcore PC gamer I cannot for the life of me get used to shooting, running and aiming with a freaking gamepad. I need a trackball and KB! I have tried GOW for HOURS and cannot get used to it! I find myself constantly reaching for my KB and trackball as my console are connected to the same monitor as my PC. I pray MS will allow KBs and mice soon, otherwise I may take up reading.

I'd say get the 360. You can get an 8800GT and bring your system back to comparable standards.

You'll miss the keyboard/mouse interface, I'm sure of it. I wish they made such a peripheral for 360's.

But: XBOX Live is awesomely executed. I'd buy it for that alone. No need to download 20 different friends programs to find ppl online.

And: Games load typically faster AND w/o driver issues. I've got both R6V versions for the PC and 360, and while I like the control scheme for the PC, I enjoy playing the 360 version more.

Stick with both, I tell you. For $1000 you can have your cake and eat it too.

Just get a 360 and upgrade your PC to a 8800gt. You'll get the best of both worlds, and you can continue to play on both systems.

Good call. He may need to factor in the cost of Vista not too far down the road....or not, still isn't a compelling enough difference in games to justify it IMO, but opinions vary.

The console forum crew here is outstanding, I don't think any of you would waste your time on one of those anymore. Besides, that is a irritating fly that will get squashed if it buzzes around again

Xbox Live with your friends is a great experience. After a long day you can sit down and play a game with your buddies and just shoot the breeze. Sure you can do that with the PC, but like you said all your friends are on the 360.

Also for me gaming on a 37" LCD is much more fun that gaming on a 20" LCD. HL2 was fun on my TV when I had it hooked up there, but it isn't a practical place for me to keep my PC. Also KB+M is kinda awkward on a couch.

If you do get a 360 make sure you get an Xbox Live Gold account.

PC Pros:
Better Graphics
KB + M
Free Online
Games are fairly open (modable)

Console Gaming Pros
Cheaper
More hassle free
More relaxed (at least for me)
