At the moment I am playing Battlefield 2 for my online-shooty goodness and I am playing Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy to you Americans out there) for some slow-paced RPG/adventure relaxation to pass the time. I am also considering installing Knights Of The Old Republic I/II again.

Oh and I'm playing BF2, X3, Dragon Quest 8 and Gun. Gun is a crazy game, the graphics remind me of your average crappy FPS shooter, but the gameplay is pretty addicting.

I haven't been a member for too long, but I only ever see you complain about other peoples posts. Why are you such an angry individual, do you need to have more attention as a person, did your mother and father not show you enough love when you were little??

Ever since his mother dropped Nik on his head while she was reaching for her laptop...

If you look up cur-mud-geon in any dictionary, you'll see Nik's avatar. (cur-mud-geon, noun: a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man)

It's his function in life... to complain about other's posts. Accept it and move on.

yeah but you're doing the same thing over again. usually sequels continue the storyline or something.

Don't look at it as a sequal, but rather the next incarnation or something. Every basketball game I've ever played was pretty damn similar, but they keep releasing them year after year. Civ is a game without a story and characters and such. It's just so fvcking addicting.

VERY ADDICTING.

I kinda feel like the pacing is 'off' in Civ4 tho' -- Civ 1-3 had a really 'epic' feel, and I'd spend 48+ hours on a large map, doing most of my warmongering in the modern age. I loved to plan anphibious assaults using huge air and naval aramadas...in 4, I feel like things move too fast and by the time I hit the modern era, I don't feel the connection to my empire, I figuht a few wars and then start a new game.

i agree.
although i thought civ 3 stunk.

I just started replaying Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I hadn't been able to play it with all the goodies cranked up on my last rig, I can now. It's still pretty good even almost 5 years later.

This summer, I finished HL2, FarCry, Theif 3 (waste of gaming, at least it was free with my video card), and Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising.
I got some kind of horrible stomach flu, so I missed about two weeks of work.

Why do you feel thief 3 was a waste of gaming?

There wasn't much challenge to it: tiptoe and duck and hide in a dark shadow, pick a lock, steal stuff. The most exciting part was trying to get the lock pick working right, and that wasn't very hard at all. I didn't feel any challenge at any point in the game. Honestly, I can't even remember any of the missions from that one.
I loved the Tomb Raider games (except the last couple), and some of the 'stealth' games/missions I've played (Splinter Cell, etc.); but I just couldn't get in to the Thief game at all.

EDIT: Love that 'poptart' line in your sig, BTW.

Battlefield 2 is rocking my world... even though I can't have the graphics as high as I would like.

it sucks having a P4 Alienware laptop with 1GB worth of RAM and you can't upgrade the videocard...

I started GUN yesterday, it blew me away. (no pun intended ) I don't know if I'm just burned out on space marine shooters, but something about gun fights on horseback is just pure, unadultered awesome.

That's next in my queue after I finish up Republic Commando.

Civ4. The game has so much potential, but needs to be paced a little differently to allow for more wars.

What sets it apart form Civ3 (and others):
- 'civics' rather than a single government type- you can create a designer set of ruling principles
- bonuses and AI's logic are clear
- religion (this is rather interesting once you get a feel for it)
- good multiplayer action
- a wide variety of bonuses on the maps (which keeps things colorful)
- pollution got dumped (thank goodness)
- 3-D (this looks nice, but adds nothing to the game play)

I try to play a game of AoE3 (online) at least once a day (Ottoman's Rule!)

I've also been playing alot of Natural Selection lately (mod for Half Life)

P.S. I just ordered CoD2 about a day ago should be here in a week or two ($30!)

im hoping the flexiblity of the game helps it along in the coming months. the fans are out of their minds into it..so we should see some interesting stuff.
i agree with the pace problem.
it seems to get sort of buggy toward the end...but it could be my machine. i was fine until the modern era at which point every "AI turn" seems to jump and take a long time while all the Wonders were choppy and skipping.
