I have been a gamer my whole life, NES Kicked it off, followed by a slew of very deep PC games (Myst, indiana jones, Xwing etc) I always went to my PC if I wanted a game with depth-meaning open ended gameplay, more than one option and better graphics. Then the consoles kicked in and started producing games with good eye candy and deeper games and multiplayer support.
The PC was my weapon of choice, always has..ps2 was secondary along with other consoles, and FPS was reserved on the PC for me.
Now I find myself sticking with a lot of games on the PC longer..Q4 for example, CS:Source is always on my rig, along with the latest Unreal Tournament. I upgrade with a big new release of UT to be honest. MMOs occasionally...
Now I see UT3 coming and I see the ps3 producing the same eye candy as if I upgraded my rig for another 700+ dollars. I already own a ps3, and my PC is behind now with performance. I figure I use the next 2+ years to my advantage and buy the console version of games since they are making more cross-platform games. If I have mouse/KB support on the ps3...its over! I wont be upgrading my PC until a game literally blows me away. I'll still play the PC games, but with lowered settings until something really sucks me in.
Anyhow, I wanted to say I cant remember a time with the console and PC have rode so close together for so long. A lot has to do with HD support. I see so many games on the consoles that would give my PC a run for its money.
