Perhaps Crysis depending on how it actually is..cause we all know graphics does not equal fun.

Like I said in another thread somewhere: Have you ever played Far Cry?
It kicked ass, and Crysis is from the same developer. Crytek will not disappoint.

far cry is overrated. the game might look pretty but its boring

Lol...

Anyway, your opinion is in the minority on Far Cry, almost everyone loves this title and agrees it really gave PC graphics a nice shove.

There are more people playing one game, World of Warcraft, than there are Playstation 3s or XBox 360s.

PC gaming is fine.

It may be a crappy game, but definitely proves that PC gaming is far from dying.

My tastes are probably a bit different than everyone else, but I'd throw Settlers: Rise of an Empire (September) on that list as well.

Looks like it may get back to it's original roots, and I always enjoyed those . . . .

maybe you need some help: Opinion - a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.

oh no! my opinion differs from that of the mindless sheep or in this case, the egotistical, pretentious, delusional, and pompous asses on this forum. i'm sure many people share the same opinion as mine anyway. i don't give a shit if my opinion is in the minority, or majority, its MY opinion. you don't have to listen to it and you can certainly argue against it, but to say I am wrong is impossible and stupid.

It's so-so, nothing as unplayably bad, buggy and unsupported as a Sony/SOE title but nothing fantastic either. Of the MMORPG choices available, it's currently one of the better ones if not the best.

"No, the PC just tends to get less crappy games unlike the consoles."

Have you ever tried Auto Assault, or Super Power 2?

The entire video game industry is growing, that includes PC gaming. Speaking for myself, I'm not as interested in the quantity of PC games coming, so much as the quality. The titles listed in this thread, almost without exception, should be big sellers.

Far Cry has to be my favorite first person shooter (hybrids excluded) since Marathon 2: Durandal in 1995. It takes all the action and hilarity (specifically in storyline and voice acting ) from the various Schwarzenegger movies like Predator and Commando and then gives you just the right amount of non-linearity. When it comes to just shoot people and blowing stuff up it's awesome.

Definitely looking forward to Crysis.

hey bro, i hate far cry as well but you shouldn't let a little thing like what he said get to you. Just chill a bit mann

Anyway, there are tons of good games like everyone has said. But i didn't see anybody mention Alan Wake. Now thats a pretty game. And whatever id makes with tech5 i will get TF2 most deffinately up there. and bioshock looks real nice. and whoever said that quake 4 sucks, YOU SUCK for not playing multiplayer. People don't play quake games for their fascinating single players. patch to 1.4.2 and dl q4max 0.78d. then hop into a <40 pinging duel server and hf

This question is as timeless as religion debates, but unlike those debates, the answer is always the same: "no".

Maybe I'll put some effort into trying Q4 again, but right now I'm still playing Quake1, infact I've seen a number of people come back to the game.

In never leaves my computer.

I've got quake+gl quake+gamma fix+transparent water maps all wrapped up in a .rar file and I drop it on any new machine I build.

It's just fun.

I have been a gamer my whole life, NES Kicked it off, followed by a slew of very deep PC games (Myst, indiana jones, Xwing etc) I always went to my PC if I wanted a game with depth-meaning open ended gameplay, more than one option and better graphics. Then the consoles kicked in and started producing games with good eye candy and deeper games and multiplayer support.
The PC was my weapon of choice, always has..ps2 was secondary along with other consoles, and FPS was reserved on the PC for me.
Now I find myself sticking with a lot of games on the PC longer..Q4 for example, CS:Source is always on my rig, along with the latest Unreal Tournament. I upgrade with a big new release of UT to be honest. MMOs occasionally...
Now I see UT3 coming and I see the ps3 producing the same eye candy as if I upgraded my rig for another 700+ dollars. I already own a ps3, and my PC is behind now with performance. I figure I use the next 2+ years to my advantage and buy the console version of games since they are making more cross-platform games. If I have mouse/KB support on the ps3...its over! I wont be upgrading my PC until a game literally blows me away. I'll still play the PC games, but with lowered settings until something really sucks me in.

Anyhow, I wanted to say I cant remember a time with the console and PC have rode so close together for so long. A lot has to do with HD support. I see so many games on the consoles that would give my PC a run for its money.

I think PC Gaming is not a dying breed--if anything Console gaming is. One expert believed, that consoles would not exist as we know them ~the 'next gen' comes out.

Sony has it, and I bet xbox 720 will have it as well: mouse support if not the defacto gamepad (my ultimate hoprs). This means, it will be much easier to port games because of the standardization of the mouse and keyboard. I have a feeling this won't be the case, because if it was, xbox would lose to PCs because people see that the main point of a gamepad is sitting on your ass with your friends on a couch--something thats harder to do with a m&k. So yeah, I dunno. But then again how many xbox 360 noobs play with friends? (if they have any?)

But with games like Crysis, Company of Heroes, and an increasing number of well cross platform well ported games, PC Gaming is still going strong. The Games for Windows initiative definitely needs work, but if you think about it, both Vista and Xbox 360 have and had technical difficulties when they got released (RDOD anyone?)

Ditto on the HD280s
Sennheiser is overrated here... waaay overrated.
That said, I had the HD497 for several years. They're decent, but certainly not spectacular. Other brands out there are just as competitive.

I was going to post here last night but got distracted.

Personal Computers will exist 100 years from now.
They might be the size of a die and project the display and keyboard with a holograph, but they will be around.

In 100 years kids will not even know what a "console" was.

Do you think people will not be playing games in 2100?

after WW-III we will be back to the Stone Age ... and no one will remember PCs or consoles

2100 games ? ... sure ... hunting 'mutated creature games' for survival on a really hot planet's partially radioactive surface

that is the "other" PoV ... kinda depressing, huh?

-you think we will have Holodecks if the human race survives? ... if so, the "arcade" may get really popular again ... and then again, the computer-neural interface will open up a"new world" of gaming unimagined now.

I think really it's suffering from the "reality tv show effect". What this means is that the studios keep churning out cheap, repetitive crap instead of well-written, acted shows. Everything's a rehash of Survivor and American Idol (more or less).

How does this relate to computer games? Simple. Replace "reality tv show" with MMO. A lot of developers are sinking time and resources into on-line games, so that they constantly have income coming in from a user-base that has to pay to play. Simply put, they have to make less product and make a higher return on it. Just like networks rolling in high returns on low cost, low quality tv, more or less. So instead of single-player games that provide a good individual playing experience (which, even when they do, nowadays tend to be a measly 15-20 hours) they crank out a product that guarantees revenue both after the initial purchase of the product and the $10 a month access to play the product.

So really, it's in a studio's best interest (not the players) to make on-line games that require pay to play. If they can make as much, or more, cash from a single game due to monthly fees, what's their motivation to make MORE games that AREN'T geared to on-line fans?
