Twenty billion dollars worth of PC gaming hardware sold last year alone. As niche markets go I'd say its doing pretty good. As cheap tablet PCs and other portables become more powerful I expect PC gaming will become more popular then ever.

I don't think there's really been any innovation on the console side, outside of Wii/Kinect, and people who like the classic games generally have better options on the PC side. I'm kinda interested to see if DICE's approach to BF3 willl bring people back to a PC first development cycle...if BF3 cleans up on PC and makes a shit ton of money (and it will), other developers may see that the PC isn't the readheaded stepchild they like too portray it as.

Yes, because most of these threads focus on developer support for PC games or an individual user's undying devotion for PC games. My kids are the target audience the likes of nintendo, microsoft and sony are vying for - young main-stream kids. PC gaming is most definitely not targeting that very audience, yet my three kids have all opted to pass up wasting their time on a console platform, two of which are currently sitting next to the one that's playing on the PC just to watch.
That's got to say something.
I been hearing people say PC Gaming is dead or dying since the day I got into PCs and that goes back to 1993. It was probably said before then too. The OP is entitled to his opinion but as far as I'm concerned its BS. It was BS then and its BS now. Find a new argument please.
Funny, my three nieces who have several consoles at home are always very eager to play my PC when they visit. I used to think they just liked games but they asked their dad could they get a PC too
COD isn't a valid example, because IW essentially broke MW2 for the PC by not supporting dedicated servers. This is a critical PC feature that they rectified by black ops, but in my opinion the damage was done at that point. I know I didn't buy MW2 for that reason alone, and passed on BO as well. This is reflected in the sales: MW2 PC sales were about 10% the console numbers if I remember correctly.why do we have to wait for BF3?
Didn't the CoD games sell enough? I highly doubt the BF series will outsell CoD.
Could you provide a link for that figure? I'm interested to see how they calculated that.
And we all know you need a new videocard to run Quicken. You know what is awesome about PC Gaming?
Is that I can use my upgrades as tax deductions.

While I get the point, really....did we need another one of these?
It has been dead for me lately. I hate how all the games are geared towards multiplayer and maybe an hour or two of single player.
Multiplayer is ok, but most people on line are ass hats.
You just have to know what to look for. I just purchased Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, and it has over 100 hours of single player gameplay. Sure, there are a lot of multiplayer games now, but that's just because everyone is getting internet connections that can handle online gaming now. There's also a fair share of single player games that have plenty of length.
then.. it's not a gaming machine amirite?I built a "gaming" machine, but the only thing that makes it a gaming machine is the high end video card, the rest of my computer is for more than just games.
