Is Half Life 2's multiplayer any good?

You don't have Riddick Escape from butcher but you do have the sitty Half life 2 / Farcry/FEAR :! you ashame the Real PC player ;
Movie-based games usually don't appeal to me, but the fact that you like Deus Ex (best game ever), The Marathon Trilogy (#6, #2, and #1x respectively), and System Shock 2 (#4) makes me want to check it out. What's it like?
EDIT: There's nothing wrong with Far Cry, aside from a couple really hard levels.

Wow... you guys are big on Riddick. I found it to be rather tedious and boring and never finished it. Same with Oblivion. After playing WoW I just found Oblivion simply boring... and spare me the speeches about how the two are different types of games, I realize this. I just kept finding myself wishing there were other other real human players in the world to interact with.

So I picked up Oblivion hoping for a good single player experience somewhat similar to WoW. Yeah, the fighting is different, but you still go around and pick up quests to complete... Oblivion even makes a similar sound when you pick up a new quest... LOL. The problem was I just quickly found myself bored. The world felt so empty without the hundreds of human players running around. I guess I just really like the interaction with other players... makes the world more "alive" than just having NPCs with all their scripted speech. There's also that added element of danger when questing in neutral or enemy territory knowing that you could be attacked by the other faction at any time. I'm also a big fan of co-op games in any genre, and I missed not being able to take on quests with other players.
That pretty much sums up why I found Oblivion to be a disappointment. It doesn't have the heavy action of the normal genres I play and it doesn't have many of the elements that drew me into the WoW world.

The Total War series... I imagine that would be difficult with a controller.
Yep. So is Lock On: Modern Air Combat.Originally posted by: LandRover
For the crowd that can appreciate a good sim, Silent Hunter III is top notch.

Just finished COD2 single player last night; I really enjoyed it...lots of fun! I like the way it was set up and how there was some teamwork involved, good stuff!
Have not really gotten into the multiplayer yet, but I only payed for a bit, so we shall see.

How does COD2 compare with COD. I liked COD well enough, but I enjoyed MOHAA more. The COD missions felt a little disjointed to me. They seemed to end abruptly or something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the MOHAA maps seemed more complete to me. I did like the shell shock effects, and the limit to what weapons could be carried in COD.

I have not played COD yet (I'll probably pop it in at some point as it is part of the COD2 collector's edition I have), but I did not find the maps disjointed or anything. I actually felt it flowed pretty well and the missions were well laid out.
I must admit I did not realize I had finished the game until it told me, as in I did not feel the last mission was the climax of the game, but that did not really bother me much, except for the fact it was over, I wanted it to keep going
I noticed you have an X-Fi card in your rig; this completely changed the game for me. I started it on integrated, but once I got my X-Fi card and bumped the sound to EAX & high quality...just wow!

I've been digging the Xfi. I had an Audigy2 ZS, and for normal games I don't notice much difference. When a game is patched to specifically use the Xfi though the sound really rocks. I'm thinking of the UT2k4 Xfi patch in particular. I really like the new weapon sounds.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tribes: Vengeance for a long time. Even got into a squad for a little bit. My interest in that game abruptly died when I saw that the developer decided to drop support for it.
