Letsee, I spent $1800 on my rig back in april (see the link in my sig, first rig in the list, the others are just data crunchers) and that included everything but the speakers, mouse, and KB (which I had). And it provides the graphics of an xbox 360. Now it would cost much less to build.

If you like consoles then fine, but please don't create yet another "PC vs. Console" thread :roll:

Will it have just as good graphics in a year or 2 probably not because newer games on the 360 will start to mature and look better. Of course my PC will be even more outdated then it already is by then.

Easily Xbox 360 level graphics, 12x10 > 12x7. Mouse + KB > analog sticks. PC functionality > gaming only machine.

In games such as Oblivion and F.E.A.R., if you have a good PC; they look better than the 360. I've played the F.E.A.R. demo on the 360, it's only as good as the PC in 1080i on my friends HDTV. Otherwise, the 2xAA on the 360 looks nowhere near as good as PC's 4x in 1600x1200.

Another PC vs console discussion? OK, an appliance designed specifically for a single application will have advantages over a self built and designed system; but the whole console industry has really made me lose interest in gaming. It seems like every game you buy anymore is just a ported console game. I remember before the proliferation of consoles I could go to certain manufacturers (like Microprose or Sid Meir) and buy a game with the expectation I'll enjoy it, but anymore I can't find games to keep my interest. What I have is a machine that upconverts DVDs better and cheaper than an STB and saves me some time having to do stuff at work. I store my music collection as a jukebox and thus have created another component to my AV system. I just don't see it, or perhaps am getting too old for the gee-whiz factor of graphics and games designed to shuttle you from graphics event 1 to graphics event 2.

In short, even if consoles absolutely blew away the best PC, which they did for a period, they'd still suck. DISCLAIMER: Just my opinion.

360 games have been out for less than a year, how can you compare them to computer games?

FYI xbox 360 puts most its the graphical processing, everything is geared towards it.

when you are on a PC they gear it for millions of things, not just gaming.

If you actually wanna know, Xbox 360 uses ATi R 5xx series and is surely better than any 7600GT/7800GT class card out there.
To be more precise, it is better than any current graphic card but does loose to dual GPU setups.

The place where PCs take the lead is that they are equipped with much faster CPUs and a fast CPU like the C2D paired with a 1900XT beats the Xbox 360!

And I remember a bunch of kids who didn't have a PC spewing trash about it looking better than the PC game. I didn't see that at all

What about the thousands of people still playing Everquest or any other MMO which has been out for 5+ years now. Or hell, I still play Diablo2 on occation.
