The point I was making is that Reagan granted amnesty (IIRC) and it did nothing to stop the flow of illegals into this country. Granting amnesty now will not stop the flow of illegals into this country unless we first do something about our porous borders.

And then we have people like you, who apparently don't give a damn about people coming here illegally as long as you can save a dime on a head of lettuce. The fact that these people are being exploited doesn't seem to be an issue with you, nor do the back-end costs of them coming here (health care, etc).

How come these new AZ laws are not targeting those who are doing the exploitation, as you call it, but the victims?

The businesses hiring these individuals should definitely be targeted. Like the law in Arizona that we're discussing, I believe laws do exist which punish the businesses but like our other immigration laws, they aren't enforced. They should be.

When I was a kid, lots of kids worked in hay fields. Why is it so different now?

You guys can't seriously be using that as an excuse -- that just because you may not find anyone to work the fields (or at least, find people to work as cheaply), it justifies allowing illegals stay in this country.

Its not different now. hell the kids around here work there ass's off all summer in fields. If you want to work there is work to be done. sure its hard but its there and nealry every kid above 14 does it

Presumably you live in a rural area. The candy asses who live in the city would never do that kind of hard work.

Yeah like all monies (doesn't have to be profits) earned by illegal activity (employing illegals) should be forfeited.
