I hope he comes to the chiefs. Dwayne Bowe with Peyton throwing to him would be awesome. Jamaal Charles running the ball keeps Peyton from getting hit all game. And the Chiefs have like $60 million in cap space last time i looked. Also if I remember right the chiefs hired a former colts offensive quality control coach or something like that this offseason.

The Jets (IIRC) have his old OC and the Eagles (IIRC) his old line coach. Hmmm, the Eagles would be an interesting place for him to land......

If the Eagles manage to bring in Manning, I'll start watching them again. I stopped contributing to their TV ratings (heh) around week 6 last season, due to the shitty product that team runs onto the field and the unwillingness of ownership to clean house.

So what teams really have the cap space or the ability to absorb a 20 million dollar contract?
Lets not forget that Irsay is a liar and a drunk so if anyone is pissed about this their anger should go his way.

How good could Miami be with Manning?

Man, this thread is full of awesome conjecture. A few teams I think there is NO WAY Manning will go to. Cowboys, Ravens. Not going to happen. I highly doubt the niners will make a play for him either.

Bronco's, maybe. Miami, Washington, Vikings, Chiefs, Raiders. I really can't see a team that was in the playoffs last year making a play for him. Sure he is a great QB, but are you really going to start over with a new QB when you already have a team on the edge.

Peyton may come in and do great in any system. He may also have a hard time adapting to a system he hasn't played in for the last 14 years. I know he's great, but it's still a risk. Unless you change the entire offense to be like Manning is used to, but that is a risk to a team that was already a contender!

If only Vick wasn't under a $100M contract...

As I recall, Vick's contract was a "100 million dollar contract" but the reality was, it was a 2 year deal worth just under 40 million with 60 million at the end that was totally optional. In other words, they may take a cap hit if they cut him this season, but it wouldn't be from a bonus that was spread across a 5 or 6 year deal.

As for where he goes, who knows. There are a lot of good options. I for one would like to see him end up somewhere in the AFC that gives him a legitimate shot to win more SBs. Indy was fortunate to have him for so long, but because of what they got away with by having him, they never really had to fix any of their problems (IE - defense). I just hope the new coach can get that straightened out.

Manning goes to NY Jets with bonus paid for by Denver, Tebow goes to Indy and first round draft pick, (Luck), goes to Denver.

Bite your tongue.

If Irsay seriously thought Luck was going to pull an Elway, he'd probably just draft RGIII.

that was actually incredibly dreadful

remember that you are talking about Jordan....
A 40-year-old Jordan who was still better than anyone else on that team. The worst thing he did for the Wizards wasn't his play, it was selecting Kwame Brown with the number 1 pick.

The owner was crying, now looks like Peyton is fighting back the tears.

Peyton, I can understand. But the owner made a business decision.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Manning made the final call. They've gutted the front office and are in the process of gutting the roster, so maybe he felt he had no chance of winning a Super Bowl here before he retires.

I don't like the Colts' new GM. He rubs me the wrong way.

You don't think the two had some relationship other than business over the past 14 years? Really?

None of the damn streams work, nice job ESPN.

Probably should be posted in full on espn soon.

Lots of deep emotions in those guys, but a ton of class in both as well. I don't know irsay as well as fans know manning, but to see that much respect from manning is touching.

Well, I'm not an NFL insider so I don't know what Manning's condition really is, but I think they should have given him another year. Seems like they owed him at least a chance to play after all he's done for that franchise. But then all the money/contracts come into play, another thing I'm not real familiar with.

I wish him well, I would love to see him flourish with a different team and shove it in the Colts' face.

I just read some list on Yahoo of the top teams he should go to, it was a stupid list. Let me ridicule their "top" choices. 1. Houston already has a QB, 2. 49ers already have a QB, 3. Broncos have a QB (sort of ), 4. Redskins in a bad choice for anybody, 5. Miami, I don't see it. 6 Seahawks, Now we're talking, this makes a lot of sense to me except that they are light (maybe very light) on WRs.

I think the places that make the most sense for Manning would be 1. Seattle, 2. Arizona, 3. NY Jets since I don't think the Jets will ever make the Superbowl with Sanchez.

But I defintely see him going to Seattle or Arizona

If he doesn't go to the Niners, I really hope he doesn't land at any other NFC West teams...
