PC Magazine

How is PC Magazine? Are the reviews on hardware, games etc. unbiased and accurate? What about PC World, which is better? Anyone have any experience w/ Stereo Review's "Sound & Vision" magazine? This all has to do w/ $2 subscriptions here

I'd prefer to just read the websites. The information is much more timely. I do subscribe to a few home theater magazines, Sound and Vision is one of them.

i find that its practically impossible to find a "good, unbaised" review magazine (online or paper). Instead i just read 3 or 4 and kinda take the average of what they say

Websites have a lot of info but I like the "ambience" of a magazine better...I like getting to crash on a couch and just read a magazine.

We got PC Mag in some sort of promotional thing (1 free subscription for a year) and it's alright, but it has a lot of extra stuff I don't read about, like camera reviews, printer reviews, software stuff etc. I subscribed to MaximumPC, which is really good and sometimes funny, and I'm probably going to start getting CPU soon.

maximum pc has the best reviews imho, but they just don't review enough stuff in each issue. If you want lots of reviews, I think PC Mag is good, but it's pretty boring to read.

Meh.. it's alright.

I've had two subscriptions to PC Mag. I stopped paying, but they keep delivering!

Anyway - I thought that it's pretty worthless. By the time the mag hits the shelves, it's already outdated.

Also, it's not geared toward enthusiasts. More your casual users that want tips on how to use their computers.

Maximum Pc is good if you like anandtech style reviews that touch some more enthusiast type parts. PC world and PC magazine are boring because you are likely to find a 10 page review on printers or scanners more often than a real motherboard review.

MaximumPC's reviews can be quite harsh. AT usually never puts anyone down, while MaximumPC on the other hand...

PC Magazine does most of their reviewing on pre-mades, something you probably aren't interested in.

I got in on one of those $9 for three years deals in HD for MaximumPC. I visit AT daily and getting my issue of MaximumPC is like looking back through old reviews. It doesn't have much content, but leaves me mixed between thinking I wish there was more to it and I'm glad there isn't anymore. It's like a movie that you hope will get better, but it doesn't, so you're just glad you don't have to waste more time... until next month.

That, MAYBE. But the original PC Mag is really crappy. CPU (Computer Power User) is amazing.

i remember awhile back, when i was at work, i was reading a magazine, they were comparing a ati x800 pro to a gforce6 6800 ultra. They were saying how the 6800 ultra was getting better scores and high fps. I just wanted to rip them a new one. Of course a 6800u going to have better fps when it using 16 pipe lines while the x800 pro is using 12 pipelines.

I would read CPU (computer power user) where a bunch of the online guys (Anand, Alex "Sharky", and Kyle from Hardocp) have articles. My favorite mag is still Maximum PC PC Magazine wasn't for me. Too many lame reviews of business hardware (unless that is your thing?). PC magazine always had reviews of "all in one showdowns".

PC Magazine did seem to lean towards Intel systems when I read it
