My father-in-law's PC is not powering up at all. I'm wondering if it is likely the power supply. It's an HP Pavillion XE783 which has had problems getting stuck in suspend mode (not waking up). So he's been powering it down after each use. He went to power it up this weekend and nothing. We tried a different cord in a different wall socket to no avail. The only possible causes I can think of are:
1) Bad PS
2) short in mobo
3) problem with switch
4) maybe the CMOS battery?
I'm going to go over tonight and take the thing apart and see if I can find anything unplugged etc. But the machine hasn't been moved in well over a year before it went dead.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
