pc not starting, please help

I have msi d-bracket with my mother board (kt4 ultra). the 4 back lights are red and the pc is not starting at all; no signal in the monitor. it was showing problem yesterday. i saw in the msi pc alert software, the core voltage was dropping alarmingly and the pc got hanged.
according to the motherboard manual when the 4 back lights are red the processor is damaged.
if the processor is damaged which processor should i buy? my motherboard supports up to 2700+ xp. at the moment in my local store 2000+ xp and 2600+ xp is available.

Could be power supply, cpu, or even mobo voltage regulator.

Yes, don't throw your processor yet. Try a different power supply to start with.

of course if its the volt regulator the cpu will most likley be dead now also. Since the motherboard likley was a cause of your issue i wouldn't be to quick to stick a new cpu in there. Wouldnt want to fry 2.
