PC on home stereo system

I've had a PC with a Radeon/SBLive combo hooked up to a TV and receiver for some time now and I can't seem to get rid of the noise from the speakers. When the PC is running and the receiver is switched to output to the sound card, there is a significant amount of noise that makes turning up the sound on DiVX movies and MP3's out of the question. It's using a mini-plug to RCA adapter for sound output from the Live card. Does anyone have any idea how to reduce this noise? I'm guessing it's feedback, but I'm no audiophile.

same thing happens with my soundblaster what i do to get it to work properly is only plug the rca splitter thing o mo jig like 3/4 of the way in and it seems to stop the buzzing or hummming, that is on the sound card itself! I also have a hercules gametheater XP and this does not happen with it! They are both hooked up to my stereo and both accually sound awsome!

Thanks, I'll give that a try. A lot of people have been telling me it has to do with shielding, but your solution sounds a lot cheaper.

The SB Live! was never known to be audiophile quality, so what you may be experiencing might just be the noise of its output. I assume you're using the analog stereo RCA output? If possible, try using the digital output instead, it will probably clear up most of the noise. However, then you have to contend with the possibility that the Live!'s digital output is of a different voltage from the standard. At least that's what I've heard of some versions of the Live!

I Use The same card, An I hook it to a 250 watt, surround system. No noise what so ever.
What input are you plugging the RCA jacks to?, try a Digital in such as a CD, or Video input on the receiver. Make sure your windows mixer settings are at comfortable levels. Even though these are line level Outputs it is possible to drive them HArd which will give you Humming. When I listen to Music I use Winamp But I have to keep the main volume at about half or it distorts. Set your Sb to 2 speaker mode and go from the front Channels to the receivers digital(cd,Video) inputs.....works fine for me, check all volume levels, should be fine....works for me
