The package for sale contains the remote, a serial port IR receiver, and full version software for 98/ME/2000/XP. This new software requires no drivers. For linux freeware is availible. The software is preconfigured to allow for the control of winamp and winddow's media player 7 with an IR remote control. Use coupon: "hotdeals"

I had this several years ago and I didn't like it. The range sucked, but back then the software did also, so maybe now they tweaked it...

Although it does cost twice as much, I think ATI's radio-based Remote Wonder is so much better and very much worth the extra $.

I am no tech slouch and I could never get the PacBell remotes to work with winamp or anything else, no matter what the software bundle. If you really want a remote, check out the GyroMouse or one of the wireless Logitech presentation mice. They are more expensive, but they are superior in quality.

Hmm.. the range? it's not that great.. i think i was able to get it to work from across my room, but that's approximately 20ft? As far as software is concerned.. WINLIRC seems to work the best, but it's a pain in the butt to configure the buttons, but the good news is have to just do it once.

What I personally did was to have the top buttons of the goofy PBR remote run certain playlist.

WARNING
I have that remote.
it doesn't work for....well almost anything. it's a piece of crap.

I've been thinking about getting a new remote lately, and fortunately it looks like the ati RF one is about $20-25 on ebay

Yeah, I had PAC HELL remote, it did suck. Go with a RF remote ATI Wonder Remote. The best part is when your listing to music outside on the deck and a song comes that your not interested in hearing you can just skip it or turn up and down the volume. That alone is worth the extra bucks.

what's this "LOLA" business? some sort of acronym i'm missing?

and by the way yeah, i have to ATI Remote wonder as well, and it IS a wonder. work incredibly well even across long ranges (50'+), and works through walls too. nice features such as programmable buttons and such as well. the only thing bad about the remote wonder is its size... because of the keypad, it's almost unecessarily large. but then again, it was meant to be used with the TV wonder card... if the numpad wasn't on there it'd be the perfect pc remote!

This is probably the same person who posted this on FW and HardwareCentral. Thread is already locked on FW, will be soon on HC. Good luck if you ordered this...

It works fine for me, the software it came with is new and requires not device drivers (like the original version of the software).
