Pc Restarting under load

Hi friends,
My PC recently started restarting whenever I run some games or graphic intensive programs. The CPU temp. was hovering over 100 degrees so I changed the thermal paste and bought a new CPU cooler(Deepcool Gamma Archer). Now the temperature does not go over 70 degrees under load. But the problem is persistent.
I ran a OCCT test and the CPU and GPU test are going fine. But when I run the power supply test, the PC restarts after about 10 secs. I can't even play Angry Birds for 5 mins. So what could be the problem?
PC Specs:
CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Mobo : Asus P5Q Deluxe Bios ver. 2301
RAM : Transcend 2x2 GB DDR2 667 Mhz
GPU : Palit ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 Mb
PSU : VIP 500 watt

I don't have a UPS. My guess is that it's either the PSU or the VRM's on the graphic card.

what is the gpu temp.just to make sure.if you say its fine.then the psu is faulty

the gpu temp is like in the range of 75-80 degrees under load. i changed the thermal paste of that too along with the cpu. but there's one small edit. while running the occt gpu test and also the fur-mark gpu burn in test, the pc restarted. the temperatures of the gpu was like 81 degrees right before restart.
I have linked the hardware monitor readings. this was taken with just angry birds running in a windowed mode and just 2 minutes before restarting.

maybe you can try adjust the fan speed on the graphics card? I think within ATI CCC you can go into the overdrive sections and adjust/unlock that feature... and set to a higher fan%... to see if that helps...

also make sure there is good airflow in the case. and leave the case cover off while testing to see if that helps.. and points u in the right direction...

I had a Visiontek HD4850 a few years ago and it would run up to 90c underload. Once I ealized it was getting that hot I adjusted the fan speed to 60% and the temps dropped to 70-75c. Not once did my computer restart do to these temperatures.

It will most likely be your power supply.

VIP PSU? I'm leaning towards that being the problem;All the other parts seem solid enough.Check and see how many watts it has on the 12v rail.

if your pc restarts immediately, than it is your psu faulty
if your pc slows down, showing artifacts on the screen, freezing or other effects, it is your gpu.
I dont belive it is your gpu, since i have a lot of experience with palit and it is very good.

The PSU has 15A/180W on +12V1 and 16A/192W on +12V2 rail. The brand VIP is a local one but it was still better than other local brands(about $50 approx.) so I bought it about 4 years back.
Changing the fan speed in AMD Overdrive helped for some part. The fan speed was 6% on automatic in heavy load. Changed it to 60%+ and now I can play angry birds and even Far Cry 3.
So I am concluding that the PSU is to blame and getting a Seasonic S12II 520 watt.
What do you guys say?

if the problem was helped by adjusting the fan speed on the graphics card, as you just stated... then the psu is probably fine, and its a heat or driver issue with the graphics card.

i would maybe try opening the case cover, and having an external fan blowing on the graphics card to see if that helps, if so, then you may want to investigate , and ensure you have good airflow within your case, and maybe consider an aftermarket GPU fan.. if appropriate for your style card.

the problem was not completely solved by increasing the fan speed. it still restarts. but earlier, it restarted on just launching farcry. now i can play for 10-15 min before each restart. but the resolution is 800x600. if i increase the resolution, then boom. and it still fails the occt psu test.
i had earlier tried opening the cover to let the fan blow inside, but it didn't help.
